The process of a trade happens through December in Career mode, unfortunately there is no way to skip games so you will have to play up to that point. Check the Calendar date in the news section when you are driving/on the plane.

Around the beginning of December you will get a cut scene of you and your agent discussing trades, hes letting you know that the option to request one is coming up

Fast forward to around the 13th-15th and you'll be called into the GMs office and have the option to request a trade

After that he'll say I'll let you think it over for a few days, after a few more days he'll ask you if you are still sure, click yes and achievement unlocked.

So, I requested the trade. Got traded, then after my first game with the new team I got called into the new GMs office and asked if I still wanted to be traded. I guess the game mode is a little buggy?

Right like what the hell. I got traded to Cleveland where I actually want to play at so I don't want to ask to get traded again... Stupid 2k -_-

I got traded from the team i was at to the same team. Got a different gm though so hopefully i wont have to hear about the bloke from maintenance who's birthday it is all the time. Defo a buggy game

I'm not sure if you have to wait until December or not. In addition to the agent, there is also a way through the GM. The GM will occasionally call you into his office and ask you how things are going. Your options are something along the lines of "Things are great, I want more minutes, and I want the ball more." I'm assuming you can pick either more minutes or the ball more for this. Afterwards, you get more options. One of them should be threaten. I chose this option, but I'm not sure if you have to. The next time the manager called me into his office, I had the option to request a trade. The trade option did appear in December, but it was the beginning of December. I also never got the cutscene with the agent that you mentioned, so this way may allow you to be traded sooner.

For those who are trying to get as many achievements out of this game that are possible now that the servers are shut down, you don't HAVE to be traded. What happens is you ask for a trade, a couple games pass, you get called into the GM's office and confirm you want to be traded, then he has you select 3 teams you'd like to be traded to. Check 3 boxes and hit B to confirm, the achievement will then pop, IMMEDIATELY hit the Home button on your controller (the xbox logo) to take you back to the XB1 UI, hit start on NBA2k in the UI to bring up the options for the game (in the system UI, the one that says pin to home, manage game, game hub, quit), and hit quit to close the game.

Then when you launch the game back up the GM sequence will start over again, you can select that you changed your mind and don't want to be traded.
