The Medals are a separate list of 'Achievements' that are for accomplishing tasks on both Windows Phone and Windows 8. From what I have heard, you can do the certain tasks on Windows 8, and then play a single game on the phone and get the Medal. Occasionally the Medals will glitch where as they will tell you that you have the correct amount, but you don't have the Medal; in order to fix this, simply complete another game, or in some cases continue to do the same action continuously (Such as flagging bombs). I will list the best method to obtain each method, with references to Achievements that which can obtained around the same time.

Update: As some users have noted, it may be easier to open up your screenshots of the boards on your computer in order to make use of the screenshot methods suggested. This may not be an option for some if you, like me, only really play your Windows Phone games when you are out away from your Computer/ Xbox etc. If you have your phone set up to upload photos to the cloud upon taking them, your screenshots will automatically be uploaded to 'onedrive.live.com' otherwise you will need to either Email the picture to yourself as an attachment or use a USB cable to transfer the file.

There is a method I reference a lot which is to take screenshots of the game, I have repeated this a lot in different solutions for the Medals, so that if you are looking for one Medal in particular, you don't have to go back up to find the method every time. [Credit to KINGvJAMES for letting me know you can simply view the board afterwards instead of having to screenshot just after detonating the last bomb]

Click! Click! BOOM! - Lost a game in two taps.
A simple method to get this is to start a game on any difficulty, click any piece to start the game and place the mines, now look for a space that has a mine and click it (Best place to look is where there is a space that has 1, with only one space around it)

The Sea of Flags - Flagged 100 mines.
You will probably get this Medal anyway as you are trying to complete this game, but if you want to get it out the way, start a custom game 30 x 24, with 667 mines; tap the outer screen and click on the flag to go to 'Tap-to-Flag' mode, in this mode, randomly tap around flagging every space you can, when you think you have flagged enough spaces, turn off 'Tap-to-Flag' and detonate a bomb. Note: If the Medal does not unlock when it says you have 100 flagged, play a game on any other difficulty other than custom and flag a few mines to get it to unlock

Burgeoning Explorer - Uncover 1,000 Squares.
There is an Achievement to uncover 100,000 squares, so you will definitely get this Medal before then, but if you want to get it out the way, start a custom game 30 x 24 with 10 mines and click any space to see many files uncover; then click a mine to lose. If you did not get enough spaces, repeat the game again, preferably on a new board in case you accidently click a mine on your first tap. Note: If the Medal does not unlock when it says you have uncovered 1000 squares, play a game on any other difficulty other than custom and win, this should get it to unlock

100k Club - Accumulate over 100,000 points.
This is will most likely be the last Medal you have to achieve, I had 40,000 points after obtaining every other Medal. The easiest method of obtaining this Medal, is to play Expert. Start a game and fail on purpose, and press 'view board' so you can take a screenshot of the mine locations, then press the windows button and go into your photos, open the screenshot folder and open the photo you just took. By holding back you can switch between the game and the screenshot; restart the game with the same board and using the screenshot, flag all the mines (You can tell when you have flagged all of them, as the mine symbol at the left of the screen will be at 0) then click all of the safe spaces (You can use chords to make this quicker, by clicking the numbers to allow all spaces around that tile to become uncovered due to the flags flagging every unsafe space. By doing this you will obtain anywhere from 5000-7000 points in little under 4 minutes, so keep repeating this to obtain maximum points.

Quick and Easy - Won a game on Easy in under 30 seconds.
Easy difficulty is not too difficult, and it is not too difficult to finish a game in under 30 seconds, if you are having trouble, you can keep playing on the same board so that you know where the mines are and you can stop making the same mistakes you possibly make.

One with the Chord - Won 3 games where the only moves you made were Chords and Flags with the exception of your first tap.
You can obtain this Medal at the same time as the other 'Flag in a specific way' Medals if you take the time to flag all the mines using the specific options (Although, those Medals are on medium difficulty, and if you want to get this out of the way you can do this Medal on Easy difficulty). To get this, you need to use Chords, Chords are where you click a number to uncover all of the spaces around it, assuming you have all of the mines flagged; if you have an incorrect space flagged, it will uncover the mine and you will lose the game. Start a game on your chosen difficulty and fail the game on purpose, instead of replaying the game straight away choose the 'view board' option so that you can take a screenshot of the mine locations, then press the windows button and go into your photos, open the screenshot folder and open the photo you just took. By holding back you can switch between the game and the screenshot; restart the game with the same board and using the screenshot, flag all the mines, taking care to ensure that you are correctly flagging the spaces) then use chords to uncover all the spaces. Repeat this 2 more times to get this Medal.

I guess I was Right - Placed a question mark on a square that had a mine, then removed it, and then detonated the mine.
One of the easiest Medals, simply start a game on any difficulty, click any square to generate the mines, find a square that has a mine and press and hold on this square. This will make a flag appear on the tile, press and hold again to create a question mark. Tap the question mark to make it disappear, and click the space to detonate the mine. Simple.

Flag it Up - Disarmed 1,000 Mines.
To disarm a mine, you have to have it flagged after you finish a game. Start a custom game 30 x 24 with 667 mines and randomly place flags around the field, then detonate one of the bombs for the flagged mines to count towards your total. You will definitely get this while going for the rest of the Medals/ Achievements, providing you use the method of taking screenshots of the playing field, but you can get this out of the way with the method mentioned above.

Bug Collector - Found 50 Ladybugs without disturbing them.
This is the only Medal that requires the use of the Garden theme, and is the same as disarming mines. Start a custom game 30 x 24 with 667 mines, and flag as many spaces as you want, when you think you have flagged enough click a space until you get a mine (Or ladybug even) and every space you flagged that had a mine will count as a undisturbed ladybug. Note: If the Medal does not unlock when it says you have 50 saved, play a game on any other difficulty other than custom and flag a few ladybugs and win to get it to unlock

Oh COME On!! - Flagged every mine except one on an expert board, and then detonated it.
For this you need to make sure that every space that has a mine is flagged, then unflag a space and detonate it. To get this a little quicker, fail a game on purpose and choose the option to 'view board' so you can take a screenshot of the mine locations, then press the windows button and go into your photos, open the screenshot folder and open the photo you just took. By holding back you can switch between the game and the screenshot; restart the game with the same board and using the screenshot, flag all the mines taking care to ensure they are in the right places (You don't want to find out that you accidently got a flag wrong, and have to do it all over again). I would suggest that you click at least once on a safe zone just to ensure that this unlocks, then when you have all of the mines flagged, unflag one of them and detonate it to get this Medal.

Flags? No Thanks! - Won a game on Medium difficulty without using flags.
This can be challenging for some as it means you have to make mental notes on where the mines are, but shouldn't be too challenging with a bit of practise. You can keep playing on the same board if you are struggling.

Mine 2049 - Won 10 games on a 20x20 custom board with 49 mines.
Start a custom game 20 x 20 with 49 mines, it can be tricky to select 49 mines due to the fiddly controls. To make this a lot easier, fail on purpose and choose the 'view board' option so you can take a screenshot of the mine locations, then press the windows button and go into your photos, open the screenshot folder and open the photo you just took. By holding back you can switch between the game and the screenshot; restart the game with the same board and using the screenshot, flag all the mines and click all the safe spaces. Repeat this 9 more times to get your Medal.

Happy Tapper - Won a game on Medium difficulty using the Tap to Flag option.
The tap to flag option is when you click the out edge of the screen (Causing a pop up to appear at the side of the screen) and click the flag icon. I found that the Medal only unlocked when the only method I used to flag the mines was with the tap to flag. To make this a lot easier, get a game over, and instead of replaying the game simply press 'view board' and screenshot the playing field, then press the windows button and go into your photos, open the screenshot folder and open the photo you just took. By holding back you can switch between the game and the screenshot; restart the game with the same board and using the screenshot, flag all the mines with the tap-to-flag option, and press any square that does not have a mine. Now all you have to do is click the numbers that have been uncovered. This will uncover all the spaces gradually as you have already flagged all the bombs.Just as I initially thought, this medal can be a little glitchy. If you can't get it to unlock, you need to make sure that after your first tap you stay in Tap-to-Flag mode until the very end only using Chord's to progress through the game. This should hopefully get the medal to unlock

Swipe the Flag - Won a game on Medium difficulty using the Swipe to Flag option.
Click the outer edge of the screen while in a game to open a popup at the side of the screen, click the settings icon and go down to the 'Swipe to Flag' option, turn it on. I found that with this Medal, it did not unlock if I flagged a mine by holding the space as well as swiping, it only unlocked when I swiped to flag every mine space. If you are having trouble with this, you can purposely fail a game, and choose to 'view board' and take a screenshot, then press the windows button and go into your photos, open the screenshot folder and open the photo you just took. By holding back you can switch between the game and the screenshot; restart the game with the same board and using the screenshot, flag all the mines by holding and dragging the spaces. I do not know if you have to flag every mine, or if you just have to make sure that every mine you to flag is flagged through the 'Swipe to Flag' option, but it might be better to play it safe and flag every mine, then simply win the game.

Fast Flagger - Correctly placed 10 flags within 15 seconds.
You should get this Medal while doing the 'Flag 100 Mines' Medal, due to the large amount of mines that are on the field. Apparently this has to be in the first 15 seconds of the game, and not any 15 seconds.

Man of the Hour - Acquired at least 60 minutes total play time on each difficulty.
As far as I am aware, this does not include custom. You will most likely get this while going for all of the other Achievements/ Medals, but if you don't, you can load up whichever difficulty you think you have not played for an hour and just wait, and not do anything. I found that this did not unlock for me, until I won several games on easy (I knew for certain I had more than an hour played on easy, so it is safe to assume this might be a bit glitchy for some people, so if you have not gotten this even though you are sure you have done an hour of each difficulty, try to win one more game on each difficulty, or keep playing games until the Medal does unlock. There is no way to track how long you have played on each difficulty unfortunately, so it will have to be down to your personal opinion, unless you physically took into account how long each game you played lasted.

Done Medium Well - Achieved a 5-game winning streak on Medium Difficulty.
This Medal unlocked for me after winning 2 games, so I do not know if this is in fact glitched or I just got lucky (It could have counted games played on windows 8 as well, but I am certain that the 2 games I did win were not one after another). Medium difficulty is not too difficult, although it is a little harder than easy. Apparently I did just get lucky, as this did not unlock in the same fashion for other people. If you are having trouble with this, make reference to the Screenshot method

Bragging Rights - Won a custom 9x9 board with at least 30 mines.
Start a custom game 9 x 9 with 30 mines; this shouldn't be too tricky, but if you want an easier time with this, fail on purpose and pick the option 'view board' so you can take a screenshot of the mine locations, then press the Windows Button and go into your photos, into the Screenshots folder and find the screenshot of the game, hold the back button and go back into Minesweeper, replay the game on the same board. Now you can continuous hold the back button to switch between the screenshot and the game and flag all the mines so that you can simply click all the safe spaces and get the Medal very easily.

I'm Easy - Achieved a 10-game winning streak of Easy Difficulty.
Now personally, this Medal unlocked for me after winning 2 games in a row, so I would assume this medal might glitch for some? I know that after playing 2 games my counter said I was 10/10, and only unlocked after I had played another. Easy difficulty is not that much trouble, just make sure you flag every mine you know the location of. Apparently I did just get lucky with this, as other people have not had this unlock in the same fashion. If you are having trouble with this, refer to the screenshot method mentioned.

Blown Comeback - Lost a game on easy difficulty on the first tap.
Start a game on easy and tap any square to place the mines. Lose the game on purpose and take note on where one of the mines is located; now start another game on the same board and click one of the spots you took note of to lose on your first go.
