How to unlock the Go for the Bronze achievement

In order to unlock a Bronze Daily Challenge badge, you need to earn 2000 coins in Daily Challenge mode. Coins can be earned in 4 ways.

    Easy challenge (100 coins)
    Medium challenge (150 coins)
    Hard challenge (200 coins)
Complete all 3 Daily Challenges (150 coins)

In other words, play every challenge in 3 days (and one Hard challenge) in each of 12 months.

There are occasionally Expert challenges. These are worth 300 coins, and will speed things up a little, but they are not occurring every day. If you have Minesweeper Premium (the paid version, which is $1.49 a month or $9.99 a year), coins can be earned at double the rate for challenges, but the bonus will not increase.

Sometime in September 2013, an update was made to the game that downloads the Daily Challenges for each month. However, this will only occur if you have entered that month while the challenges were still on the server. You used to be able set your PC clock back and retrieve old challenges, but reports lately are that this no longer works. If you have entered daily challenge mode during any month and downloaded the challenges, however, you can go back whenever you like. This is why some people can still play challenges as far back as September, while some are stuck with more recent months. This appears to be true for all of the Microsoft Arkadium releases.

This achievement appears to be retroactive. Minesweeper has been tracking medals earned since the release so it is possible to have this already from 2012 and 2013.

(Thanks to Ironspleen for info on the system clock. Credit to RadicalSniper99 for pointing out the Expert challenges, and Kugare for the Premium info.)

(EDIT: Updated in March 2014 to reflect testing on the "set your clock back" methods)

cooorpseYou only can go back 3 months and the current month. People are getting this achievement out of a bug or it's coincidence? Anyone heard about it?

Dr JaviciiI got this one and the silver and gold medals ones by just playing 6 months and getting 5 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze. Don't really know why but with the update it may have turn buggy because I played everyday on February and the "wins at your back" achievment didn't pop. facepalm

Basta37Started title update today and I can't download challenges for any of the previous months... Tried PC restart as well as just restarting the app after time change. It says error 200, challenges can't be retrieved

Basta37Actually, once I've purchased premium, I'm able to download challenges for April (previous month), but not for any months before that.

djjyeah you can't go back unless you played during that month, it will take 12 months to get all the bronze medals, there should be a lot less people with the achievements for medals, but one of the months glitched and doubled most peoples medal count for a little while, getting them the achievements.

Fuzzmeister JI played before the challenges were released and didn't play again until this week. I could go back 4 months with no issue. I do not have premium and am running an evaluation copy of 8.1 which means my pc shuts down every hour I have the time set back because it's not activated for that date. I can knock out a month a day though and finished all of that. Time to work on them normally now!

HolyHalfDeadYou can get a mix of challenges each day (1 easy and 2 medium) so it may take more (or less) than 3 completed days and a hard challenge to get 2,000 coins.

Buggy - I didn't get the achievement after getting 12 Bronze medals. What I had to do was play another challenge for it to unlock.

BrutalTrve GeekI just put 31 March today, and I can access the calendar and play normally. Don't know really why this is working.

EDIT : I even go to march 2015 and was able to earn coins normally, and it seems to count for achievement. I'm just waiting July to get the last three medals (bronze, silver and gold).

PhoenixFire424I started playing January 2020 and was able to go back to at least August 2019 (didn't try any further back). Worked great for me although I had issues with the play once a day for an entire month achievement so I had to play another another month. When I went back to current date it glitched a bit and said 0/12 bronze earned but closing and opening the game a few times reset it
