Pocket watches can only be purchased from Smugglers. Smugglers appear on the map as an all white icon of a man wearing a tri-corner hat with a handkerchief over his mouth and nose.

The earliest you can get this achievement is after you complete Memory Sequence 8.

*Update - The gold watches unlock after you Complete Memory Sequence 7.3*
Thanks Archer Mike and Brasshande and many others. Thanks for helping me polish this guide up!

The watches you need for the achievement are:
    Cartographer's Watch - 1250
    Engrave Watch - 1875
    Pourpre Rose Watch - 4375
    Gentleman's Watch - 6250
    Flemish Timepiece - 9375
    Antique Watch - 13750
    Parisian Masterpiece - 21250
    Engraved Silver - 28750
    Armada Gold - 35000
    Admiral's Treasure - 43750

That means you need a grand total of 165625 (gold? dollars? never did figure that out...)

The fastest way to make money I found was to purchase 8 ships with the maximum hold space and rotate them from Port-au-Prince to Bridgetown to Seville. I bought fruit in Port-au-Prince, cotton in Bridgetown, and steel in Seville. Rotate your ships through three times and you should have close to the amount you need. Happy Hunting!

Mobius EvalonThis is a stupid fucking achievement. The pocket watches only exist for this achievement, so the description text might as well say "Waste 165,000 ecu."

Also, the total is 165,625. I didn't notice which item cost the extra $1000, but I am sure that was the total amount of money I wasted on watches.

ARCHER MIKEThe watch prices are listed correctly, Bobwings just added the grand total wrong. 165,625 is the correct grand total instead of 164,625.

I'm sure when he sees this, he will update it.

Khan GarthAgree that this is another achievement for the sake of having another achievement that does nothing else for you. Would be different if you could use the watches for something else, like to solve a puzzle, but this game was very rushed.

This is just a general rolling-in-dough money guide.

Send ships with a large capacity, preferably the East Indian ones with the 200 carry capacity, from these locations, carrying the following:

Liverpool to Campeche and Bordeaux to Natchez, both carrying guns. Then send the ships from Natchez to Liverpool, and the ships from Campeche to Bordeaux, carrying Fur and Sugar respectively.

Assuming a carry capacity of 200, with no loss to and from both destinations, you'll make a grand total of 426,400 for a round trip. I think that alone is enough to buy every single thing in the game.

The initial cost of the 8 ships and resources to fill them, assuming you start with no ships or resources, will be around the money required for the achievement, just for the record. But let's be honest, you really want that Pepperbox Pistol.

Mobius EvalonIt's worth noting that the items demanded/for sale are somewhat "unlocked" by story progress. I didn't see guns available for purchase or being demanded anywhere, despite having all the ports unlocked, until somewhere in sequence 7

    Otherwise, this guide is awesome.

CodeMonkeysGuyI actually did not know that myself. Interesting.
