This secret achievement is called Weapons 50% Complete and is awarded for collecting half of the weapons in the game, for all character classes.

This unlocked for me at 394 weapons collected. The achievement will pop at the score screen once the mission is complete.

The only way to collect weapons in EDF 2025, other than the base starting weapons for each class, is by picking up weapon crates. Weapon crates are the large green crates, and appear as random drops from defeated enemies. There are somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 weapons in the game, so this achievement is no joke. But wait, it gets better (or worse, actually). Each character class has their own list of weapons, and weapons are classified by level. Higher level weapons, obviously, are more powerful. To obtain higher level weapons, you not only need to play on higher difficulties, you also need to play more advanced missions in the campaign, i.e. mission toward the end of the campaign. In other words, you get better drops for playing on Inferno difficulty than you do on Easy difficulty. Likewise, you get better weapon drops for playing Mission 85, than you do for playing Mission 1.

No need to worry, I've got your back. Below you will find two links. The first link is to an Excel spreadsheet that list every weapon in the game. The weapons are divided by character class, and sub-divided by weapon type for that class. Each weapon is also listed with full stats, and a place for you to check off when you've acquired that weapon.

The second link is also to an Excel spreadsheet that will guide you as to what level weapon drops you can expect to get depending on what mission you are playing, as well as what difficulty you are playing at.

EDIT: Thanks to http://www.trueachievements.com/Remeki.htm for providing the following info: The weapons listed below are DLC weapons that can be downloaded for free, and are most probably not needed for the weapon collection achievements.
Fencer - Ifrit (level 2 Artillery and Mortar)
Fencer - Blood Storm (level 3 Missile Launcher)
Wing Diver - Reflection Laser (level 2 Mid-Range Laser)
Wing Diver - Gleipnir (level 2 Special Weapon)
For the moment, I will leave them on the spreadsheet so you can keep track of them. Just be aware that these are free DLC weapons.

Now, as for grinding weapon drops, there are a ton of recommendations on which levels and methods to use to grind weapons. Mostly I'd say just play what you like, although you will be restricted on what you can play to get the very high level weapons. I'll give you a few recommendations of the levels I like to use. These are two early levels that you manage on Inferno difficulty to get you some nice mid- to upper-level weapons. These new weapons will then allow you to try for even higher level weapons.

Mission 11 - Air Force: This is a great level to grind on Inferno, and very easy even for lower level characters. Right at the beginning, just turn around and run away for a distance and let the superpowered AI troopers kill most of the drones for you, then swoop in and pick up all the weapon drops that you can before they kill off the final enemies.

Mission 14 - Preventing Landfall: Play on Inferno. Stay up on the cliffs where you start. Use a good sniper rifle to help take out the few drones, then start taking out hectors from closest to farthest away. Make sure they are out of the water before finishing them off. When there are 1 or 2 left, start grabbing crates. Finish the last hectors and get on the cliffs on the opposite side or back side of the beach. Again take out hectors from closest to farthest away, then grab what you can before the mission ends.

Once you have some decent Inferno level weapons, you're ready to start taking on later missions for even better weapons. It's going to be a long, long grind, so take your time and don't get too frustrated by trying to advance too far, too fast.

NOTE: If you notice any errors in either spreadsheet, please let me know and I will get them corrected ASAP. I will be verifying the data for each weapon as I acquire them, but this is a large spreadsheet with a huge amount of data on it, so I'm bound to miss some things. Check the Revisions page in the first spreadsheet for various means of contacting me.
