  Pirate zombies appear in Port Skallywag map, the best and quickest mode to get this achievement is solo garden ops,
  
  Set up an invite only game of garden ops on easy on the Port Scallywag map, I used the pea shooter for speed, any brown coat regular zombie counts as a pirate, the reason I suggest this solo is so you don't have other players getting kills and slowing you down.
  
  I think it took 4 1/2 games to get this, with 100-150 pirates a game. Really the number just depends on what is in the waves you get, tombstones etc.
  
  Edit: I should also mention that you should not use any offensive plant pots, use a healing one if you need it but not offensive ones like Pea Cannon etc as kills from those will not count towards the achievement.
  
  Also it really doesn't matter if you fail and the garden gets taken over or you die, once you don't quit out your kills will count towards the 500 target.

  Create a private game of Garden Ops on Easy mode and choose Port Scallywag.
  
  My advice would be to use the Peashooter. It's Speed Boast and Chilli Bean powers are awesome for this mode. But play with what makes you more comfortable.
  
  
  Now each game randomly generates what enemies you face off in each wave. However ere are a few things you can do to increase your chances of scoring a higher kill total.
  
  First DON'T destroy Tombstones or Teleporters, as these generate standard and Hero Zombies. If you destroy them, then you will face off against less zombies in total.
  
  Secondly DON'T plant anything but the Goopshroom, Ice-Shroom and Heal Flower, anything else takes away from your total kill score.
  
  Thirdly if like me you find you have too many Retry Tickets, then let yourself be killed. If you don't care for your stats, then killing yourself via combat or jumping in the water, is the best option. Let one or two zombies survive a match and off yourself, you keep your kill total and then get to kill the same guys over and over.
  
  Lastly you don't need to win the match, just finish it and be awarded the coins at the end.
  
  Following this advice you should net around 100-200 zombies, however only a select few of these count. Only the Normal, Conehead, Flag, Shipswheel, Map, Buckethead, Exploding Imp and Barrel zombies count towards the achievement.
