First off: This achievement can be *extremely* frustrating. There is a lot of luck involved, especially with pitching. You can throw the same pitch vs same batter in same situation and see very different results. Strikeout, single, home run, etc. It's likely going to take many restarts of games.

For those who don't know anything about baseball: A perfect game is a pitcher not allowing anyone to reach base. That means no hits, no walks, and not even any defensive errors.

Next, I recommend you go for the season achievement to make the postseason and the postseason achievement to win the world series without losing a game first. You'll get a good handle for the game and you can try to get this achievement along the way.

However, if you still need this one...

First off, always use assisted fielding in this game. You can change that in the settings. Next, your goal is to win by mercy rule. Meaning you are up by 10+ runs during or after the bottom half of the inning. It is insanely hard and lucky to throw an actual 9 inning perfect game but you can earn this by throwing a "perfect" game while winning by mercy rule in any inning.

You can earn this in exhibition mode. My suggestion is to play as the AL All Stars as the home team (hit X during team selection to switch away/home) vs the Houston Astros. You can try playing against different weaker teams but I had the most success against them. Note that while you can change the amount of innings you play, it will not work selecting anything less than the default 9 innings. As soon as you give up a hit, a walk, or an error, you should quit and restart. It's no longer a perfect game.

I suggest using Chris Sale as his pitches move an insane amount. It takes some getting used to, but after a pitch thrown you can move his pitches side to side like crazy. Hold down before throwing for a fastball and hold up for a screw ball. Mix up the pitches and locations. With the screw ball, you can start holding the thumbstick/d-pad towards the hitter and then move it away from them with Sale and it will still move right across the plate. This is a personal preference though, use any other pitcher you feel comfortable with if you wish.

On offense, you'll have a stacked line up using the AL all stars. With no one on, try to square up the ball on the middle part of the bat moving side to side as the CPU pitches. Try not to swing at obvious balls. For your power hitters (Cabrera, Davis, Bautista mainly) hold down on thumb stick/d-pad after pitcher starts delivery to aim for fly balls/home runs.

The last general suggestions I have is when you have a runner on 2nd or 3rd and you hit a groundball with less than 2 outs, you can start to advance your runner (d-pad for the base + X) and the cpu will throw to that base. As soon as they throw, retreat back to your base (d-pad for the base + A). You can get some cheap base hits this way by forcing the CPU to throw to the wrong base first. It doesn't always work as they'll sometimes still have time to throw them out at 1st but it's useful.

Also, there isn't much of a difference on defense regardless of who is playing that position. Using the AL All Stars, I would pinch hit (LB) for Mauer with Encarnacion. Even though Encarnacion is not a catcher, it seemed to make zero difference on defense. You can do this with anyone else you're not having much luck hitting with.

That's it. Good luck! As mentioned this is a pain in the ass achievement but keep at it and you'll get it.
