    Above & Beyond (Hardcore)

ENDED/Note (03/19/15): Double XP right now! The event runs until Monday, March 30th at 23:59 (CEST). The event does not run for players of Diablo III on the Xbox 360. All players diving into the world of Reapers of Souls will receive a 100% bonus on all "Gold Find and EXP".

ENDED/Note (12/27/14): Double XP from now until Monday, December 29th at 11:59 p.m. PST. This XP gain stacks on top of other existing XP bonuses such as those given by items, shrines, Pools of Reflection, and Paragon points.

Since that double Xp has now ended, there is a possibility for more so if your willing to wait, keep your eyes out, If I find any more out I will post it on this solution, if you know before I do, please comment or message me to help others, thanks!

Ok so I just hit 70 in Hardcore, I never died once. If you follow my method you can do the same.

Unless you died with a previous character you must complete the story, which isnt that difficult at all, when I finished story I was at level 40. The safest thing to do is to play on normal difficulty all the way to 70 if you don't want any risks, as for me I went up to Hard mode at the end for the 75% bonus EXP.

The character I went with was the Crusader, he is a strength attribute and is best to make a Tank. Tanking is the way to stay alive, choose the Crusader and choose the following abilites:

Primary attack - Punish (Celerity Rune)
Secondary attack - Sweep attack (trip attack rune)
Defensive - Iron Skin (Steel Skin rune)
Utility - Steed Charge (Nightmare rune)
Laws - Laws of Valor (Frozen in terror rune)
Conviction - Falling sword (Part of the Clouds rune)
    Passive 1 - Fervor
    Passive 2 - Fanaticism
    Passive 3 - Wrathful

The basic idea is to hold A while attacking (punish) and hitting RT (Sweep attack) when you are able to. When you come to a group of enemies use Falling sword to hit a good amount of enemies, and mash the buttons for Iron Skin and Laws of Valor which were X and B for me. If you come into a pickle where you are taking too much damage use Steed Charge to run out of the crowd.

Boss's are the same idea, there is no separate method or set-up for boss's that's why I chose this method because its straightforward and quite basic for anyone to use without any complications.

For your gear I can not give you specific gear, but here is a tip I used, when you pick up a new piece of gear it compares the gear and says if it increases your damage, armor or regeneration, what I did was replace each gear if there were more green arrows then red arrows, don't focus everything on damage or your character will not be able to take hits.

Also don't forget to have the Templar following you with Healing abilities set, he will be an extremely helpful ally and help keep you alive. Keep giving him gear, always give him your 2nd best gear, while your character has the best gear on. Thanks EllandRoad Dave for reminding me, I should have added him in my solution at the beginning!

Note: If you die you can save your hero, hit your home button, start button while hovering over your game, manage game, and delete your save on the right side (DO NOT DELETE EVERYWHERE ONLY FROM CONSOLE) load the game up and you will get your character back, just sent back a bit. (works in Coop too)

Any questions or concerns? Message me or comment, Good luck and have fun!

XxBeastinXxT813I went for the level 70 hard-core achivement and the necromancer lvl 70 achievement. Both challenges unlocked but not the achievements. This is so frustrating.

EuGeNeVtDo you need to finish story mode or can you get this in Seasonal Adventure Mode? I wiped my entire save, managed to get the other 2 kill boss on hardcore achievements which weren’t popping, but reached 70 and no achievement for a 2nd time.

EDIt : You can get this on SSH, no need to complete any story mode at all.

Hardcore glitch/ keep save progress(use if u like)

If u die in hardcore no worries no more. When u die hit the home button on your controller then go to manage game than delete your local save. It will reboot your game and sync to the cloud, from there when you check your character data you probably lost maybe 1 or 2 levels from when the game last synced to the cloud.

(warning this is the only way possible, do not quit the game first or else it will sync to cloud)

    Good luck!

ULTRONITEI died and tried your trick and there was a small problem. I did exactly as told then when I turned the game back on it showed my guy as dead.

My system was set to instant on so I switched it to energy saver and then deleted again and my guy was alive again. Kinda freaked me out at first but worked out in the end.

erod550I messed it up but I know what I did wrong. I took it as don't quit from the menu in the game, not don't hard quit the game from the Xbox home screen. Luckily I was only 18 so I didn't lose much time. The solution is clear now that I read it again, but just to reiterate so someone doesn't make the same mistake I did at a much higher level.

Honestly found witch doctor to be the easiest for me. (May just depend on how your play style is) I'm a very passive person in most games like this. Sitting back and letting pets do the work. Getting out of puddles and dodging an attack or two per boss isn't even needed on normal. I just kept equipping items with Int + Vit so i had lots of health and damage. I put points in my passives that gave me either more pets (late game) or more defense for me and my pets. I can currently tank Malthael with very little issue and i just avoid standing in the clouds as that's unnecessary damage. If you manage to get the "Tall Mans Finger" it changes however many dogs you have into 1 gargantuan dog. Does almost 10,000,000 damage on crit with all 3 pet perks.

    Early game build:
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

    Late Game build:
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Try and stick with Items that give: INT and VIT with Exp if you like. Late game you'll see the Exp part start to disappear and be replaced with Life per second or life per hit.

P.S. The reason i consider Locust swarm my main attack is that there are a LOT of fast moving enemies that pounce and run or dash through you. Locust Swarm (with pestilence) make absolutely sure they are being damaged at all times. Most of which die after 1 charge.

Darthcheweeon your late game build, are you using Blazing spiders just to help restore mana? I have always used Swallow your Soul with Soul Harvest so I normally use Leaping Spiders. And is Big Stinker or Bruiser better than Restless Giant?

VygerI second this build for hardcore. Super easy mode on hard difficulty!

    JMJimmyEasier build:

Grasp of the Dead (Groping Eels)
    Corpse Spiders (Widowmakers)
    Zombie Dogs (Leeching Beasts)
    Gargantuan (Restless Giant)
    Big Bad Voodoo (Slam Dance)
    Piranhas (Frozen)

    Midnight Feast
    Pierce the Veil
    Fierce Loyalty
    Fetish Sycophants

    Paladin merc with healing

Core idea is let the pets do all the work while amping their damage (Piranhas for all battles and Big Bad for big battles) and lobbing spiders from a distance. My health never went below 2/3rds full and cruised right through the game. Since few spells are being cast mana is a non-issue.
