How to unlock the Greed over Need achievement

First of all, you shouldn't be actively farming for this before you have everything else, just try to keep an eye out and kill as many as you can on the way.

The achievement tracker is bugged on this one, it seems to randomly count the goblins. But the in-game challenge tracker was correct for me at least (start button -> challenges -> triumphs -> scroll down to greed over need)

I noticed all achievement related challenges has a G inside the shield next to the amount of points it gives, so that makes them easier to spot.

As soon as I got the in-game challenge, the achievement popped. For me this happened before getting the 500 bounties done, but your mileage may vary.

If you happen to have a puzzle ring from the old version of the game (that sometimes spawn a treasure goblin when hit), you can put that on your templar to speed this up a little.

There is a way to actively farm this !!!!!!

Adventure mode act 1, from the spawn in the village teleport to old ruins, move down and to the left to see if the dark cellar dungeon is there , if it is go in, if there is a chest here near the upper right the goblin might not be, quit and reload. Repeat. It's random but quick to reload the game, and a very quick run to the goblin. Out of 10 runs on expert the goblin was there 4 times.

    Not a single goblin

LordSuprachrisIt looks like the goblins that spawn with the puzzle ring don't count anymore for the achievement on the Xbox One version of the game. I've used it to get the achievement on the X360 version but on the One, both in-game and achievement trackers only progress when I kill a "real" goblin, the spawned ones don't make it progress.

This solution shows a place with around 40% chance of spawning 2 treasure goblins.

A friend of mine (Cerichsen) found a good place to farm treasure goblins and asked me to share the info here.

    The area is blood marsh.
We played on difficulty torment 5 (adventure mode), starting a game and going to the area, explored then quit game. Repeat.

    Game - Goblins found:

    01 - 2
    02 - 0
    03 - 2
    04 - 0
    05 - 0
    06 - 2
    07 - 2
    08 - 0
    09 - 2 (one was a rainbow treasure goblin)
    10 - 0
    11 - 0
    12 - 2 (one was a rainbow treasure goblin)
    13 - 2
    14 - 0
    15 - 0
    16 - 2
    17 - 0
    18 - 0
    19 - 0
    20 - 0

    Total: 20 games - 16 goblins.

Every time we found one goblin, there would be a second somewhere. If you cant find it in that area, check across the short stone bridge that leads to a closed gate with a nephalem guidestone on the other side. Also check the area just on the other side of the next closed gate.

We also did one game on master difficulty and found 2 goblins. We only did one game because the drops are so much worse and there is no chance of a vault portal.

    Where is it?

From the survivors enclave in act 5, take the eastern exit to the overgrown ruins and follow the path east and then directly north into blood marsh.

Blood marsh is usually a pretty small area and should only take 2-3 minutes to search if you ignore the mobs.

    *EDIT*

This solution got a down vote some time ago, not specifying why, so today i decided to try it out myself again to see if they changed it somehow. Current version is 2.2.

I did 10 runs and got 2 goblins on four runs, which is 40% of the time:

    01 - 0
    02 - 0
    03 - 2
    04 - 2
    05 - 0
    06 - 0
    07 - 0
    08 - 2
    09 - 0
    10 - 2

This time i did it on torment 6, alone, and it seems to still be working fine.

    Confirmed to be working:

    v2.4 by Brasshande

Treasure Goblins are the small, glowing creatures carrying a purple sack that will scurry away and open an escape portal if you come too close. On your mini-map, they're show as a fat white dot with a small blue filling. You need to kill one hundred of them for the achievement.

Now, don't rely on the xbox tracker to see how many you've killed, instead use the in-game challenge list. It's located under 'Thriumphs'. It's quite slow to update, but nevertheless reliable.

The good news is, all goblins killed with all characters, in all modes (be it normal or hard core, campaign or adventure) count. The bad news is that patch 2.1.0 has made them hard to find, as numerous potential spawns have been patched out. Also, the previously excellent Puzzle Ring doesn't seem to be working as before, at least it did not for me. The new 'portal goblins' and 'treasure fiends', while looking like 'treasure goblins', apparently don't count, but of course there's no reason to not end their lives.

While they can spawn anywhere, I found two reasonably effective farming spots I used while grinding 500 bounties. These locations merely have a higher chance to spawn goblins, meaning you could go through them ten times without seeing a goblin - I know I did. But that is sort of what you'd expect from a game like this, right?

Location 1 is the 'Royal Crypts' area, right before the Skeleton King in Act 1. The area is small and the layout is always the same, so including loading times and teleporting, a fast-moving character can check the dungeon in about two minutes.

Location 2 is also in Act 1, and it's the 'Caves of the Moon Clan'. This dungeon actually spawned more goblins for me (in rare occasions, even two in one run) but it's larger than the crypts, and both layout and location are random each time. I suggest you pick up the correspondig 'clear' bounty when heading there, as you'll be anyhow scouring every corner in search of the elusive goblin.

I hunted down 84 of the required 100 in these two locations. I played both on hard in hardcore mode, but mostly normal mode on Torment I & II. On a side note, I got the rainbow portal three times, and the treasure vault portal four times.

    Happy hunting!
