  Crew Expendable - Add-on
  
  If you have the Ripley edition of the game you can get this achievement right at the beginning of the Crew Add-on. Your first objective is to get the flamethrower.
  
  You can also use the flamethrower on the alien to get this achievement:

  After that you will climb down a ladder and have your first chance to use your new toy on the alien. If it doesn't show up, sprint for a few steps and it should come for you quickly.

  You can also get it in Survivor Mode right away if you have the Crew Expendable DLC as Ellen starts with it in her inventory with fuel.

  After completing level 9 as Marlow you are returned to play as Ripley. The Marshall will confirm he has something for you and in a side room is the flamethrower.
  
  Pick it up, use the save in the main room, then use it to unlock the acheivement.
