This is it. The big one. The main enchilada. Nightmare Mode.

For this bad boy, you will need to complete all 18 chapters of story mode in the Nightmare difficulty. You do not need to touch Kaos Mode or the Arenas. To unlock the mode, you simply need to beat the game once, which unlocks the difficulty level. Unfortunately, they took a step backwards from Swap Force and made it so you need to start a new game in a new file rather than allowing you to stay on your main one.

What's notable about the mode is that enemies health and damage have been ramped up massively. For the most part it's manageable, up until the very end, with the battle with Kaos. Kaos's health and damage are just obscene to the point where you believe you're fighting a JRPG bonus boss. His weakest attack will do around 275 damage and his strongest will do around 775. To put that in perspective, a level 20 Skylander's health will generally be between 800 and 950 (More for Giants and Stump Smash). That means a skylander can only take 1-3 hits before they are taken down.

So in short, for the final boss, you need to either be god-like at bullet shooter-style boss fights or have an army to throw at the meat grinder. I chose the latter myself and lost about 50 skylanders in that fight (Though I purposely did not use my maxed skylanders, instead keeping them in reserve as the last line of defense).

1) Be Patient. Don't rush into combat, focus on staying alive, getting hits in when you can. Losing a skylander is far worse than losing a few seconds.

2) Avoid unnecessary fights. There's plenty of areas where you can just run past the enemies to get to the next area, and no combat means little chance of taking damage.

3) Let the villains do the dirty work. As trapped villains use a regenerating bar rather than HP, they're the best choice to use in combat. In fact, the best strategy for survivability is to, when combat starts, tag in the villain, fight 'til their bar is low, tag back to the skylander, run away until the bar refills, and repeat.

4) Rapid-tag for invincibility. When you tag back and forth between your skylander and villain, there is a brief window of invincibility. If you repeatedly swap the 2 you can stay invincible and avoid being hit. However, you can't move or attack while doing this or fill up the villain's bar, so this is best for hazards like lasers than for actual combat.

Once all that's said and done, the achievement will pop at the results screen for chapter 18. Good luck; you'll need it.
