Shooting an aimed shot with your bow into a camp fire counts towards this challenge.

You do not have to hit anyone for this to start counting. Just detonate the fire pits you see scattered throughout the game. The second map: Nurn seems to have more camp fires on it than the first area: Udun.

To detonate a fire you need to have purchased the Detonate ability from the first Tier of abilities. The method below highlights how to get detonates rather easy on the second map. If you haven't unlocked it yet, the last paragraph is for you!

    Detonating fires
To detonate a fire you need to find either a camp fire, large brazier (sometimes found in strongholds, piles of explosive kegs, or grog cauldrons. You cannot detonate torches or small braziers. Enter the Wraith World with cn_LT to spot fires and other items that can be detonated by the special icon above them. However, this only works if you are close enough.

Using the method below you should be able to get about 5 items a minute, depending on your loading times. Hence, you can get this challenge in about 10 minutes.

    Fast way to detonate fires
First off, advance your game time to night using the cn_Y button on a tower. This is not required but makes it easier to spot fires. You want to aim at the fire and watch for the cn_RT prompt in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Once it pops up you can pull the trigger to detonate the fire. No need to charge the shot. Don't be afraid to shoot an Uruk if he stands in the way. Just make sure he doesn't tumble into the fire or he will set himself on fire and extinguish the fire in the process.

The video will show you a method where you can get 5 detonations on a specific tower. Travel to the Fern Outskirts and turn around. Get the fire in the distance. Do a 180 and get the fire on the left and on the far ridge. Sometimes the fire on the ridge does not spawn. Go back to the first position and the fire should have respawned. Now jump of the tower to the right (from the direction you started) and get the fire in the ruin. That fire sometimes does not spawn either. If all goes well you should have gotten 4 to 5 fires. Just keep travelling back to the same tower to reset the fires. Fast travelling will replenish your Elf Shots and you shouldn't have any trouble with ammunition. I would, however, recommend upgrading the number of Elf Shots you can carry.

You haven't advanced to the second map yet?
You can use the same method on the first map but I have found that there are less fires that are accessible from the towers. Hence you would need to move around more which will increase the time you need to get your 50 detonations. However, you should still be able to get the challenge done within an hour!

Edit 13 January: Removed erroneous reference to detonating non-campfire items.

Elite1111111111You can just keep fast traveling to the first one, or the other one that has 3.

Epsilon ThetaI found a more effective method where you can get about 5 fires every minute. See the updated explanation or the video for more details!

I used the Southern Udun Pass tower on the first map (western most tower). Turn left on the tower and go between the pillars. From there you can see 1 fire and 2 stacks of barrels that can be blown up, which also count for this challange. When you go to aim with your bow with left trigger, the items you can detonate will turn gray. When you have detonated all 3, fast travel to the same tower, and everything has respawned, and you will have a full compliment of arrows.
