How to unlock the Beachhead achievement

    Short Version: Run and Gun. Take as much damage as you can. Weaken every enemy and let the Marines finish off the kill. (Pop elite shields and move on)

    *I have been told by CReaper210 and other gamers in the comments that activating the Bandana Skull will NOT disable this achievement. Use the extra grenades to your advantage.*

    Long Version: Easier on Heroic but possible on Legendary. As soon at the mission starts head towards the enemies but look to your left, there will be two grunts hiding behind some rocks. Quickly take them out with your pistol. Turn back to the main group of enemies. Lob a grenade or two but save at least one for the final group of elites. Even if you do you not hit the enemies with grenades, it is okay as they also halt the Covenant's fire at your Marines.

    I found that you don't need to kill every enemy but at least weaken every enemy. I typically try to shoot a grunt with the pistol. If I miss twice but land body shots, I move on. For elites, I unload a full Assault Rifle clip into them as that brings down their shields if not kill them. If their shields pop and I run out of ammo, I reload while moving onto my next target.

    For the last group, chuck your remaining grenades. Don't forget to switch to plasma if you picked some up. For the last, group go ahead and kill them as you don't need to move on. If you are unsuccessful, restart the mission.

    Once you load up the mission Silent Cartographer you must finish the beginning (beach area) without a marine ally dying, following this guide you can do this in 5 minutes, first try.

    Difficulty: Heroic

    Skulls: Bandanna (doesn't ruin achievement), Boom

    Right when you start off, throw grenades ahead and not near marine, the area is extremely open and its actually easy to not hit marines. The only thing you have to worry about is throwing 2 grenades in the same area, 1 blowing the grenade back at you or your ally marines, since boom is on the radius of the explosion is increased. This takes seriously 2-5 minutes, take your time and don't rush too fast, just hit the enemies before your marines get up there.

    BioFire64Doing this with boom makes it much harder, got it first time once I turned it off!

    For Silent Cartographer’s first level-specific achievement, you have to make it through the initial beachhead landing without any marines dying on Heroic or Legendary. You’ll obviously find this easier on Heroic as well as in co-op, and can even use Bandanna for those sweet infinite grenades, but it is entirely possible to do solo. I did a separate run through on Heroic for this. The achievement unlocks as soon as you kill the last enemy in this initial area. Skip to 0:54 in the video to see this in action.
