    An alternative location to the other solution:

    I've had great success with the first encounter with crawlers during the mission FORERUNNER. This occurs seconds before crossing a small bridge. Each encounter has 6-8 crawlers. A checkpoint should proc just before the encounter, and I banged this out in less than 2 hours. Magnum Pistol is your friend. Podcasts are your best friend.

    I found the best and quickest way for this achievement was on the mission MIDNIGHT as you see in the game clip below grab yourself a Lightrifle (weapon). They can be found top right corner (behind Cortana) and make yourself towards the mission objective but stop just as your walking down and aim and shoot! The Crawlers just keep spawning and spawning so you wont be doing this for very long. Now when you run out of Ammo just restart checkpoint as you get a checkpoint as soon as you PULL CORTANA OUT SO MAKE SURE YOUR AMMO IS FULL AND RELOADED (Will save you time)

    Also set the game difficulty to easy.

    As you see in the video they just keep spawning and spawning. smile
    (Not sure why the game clip doesn't have sound but have fun!)

    Assuming you want to grind this after the campaign, the best place to do it is to load up Midnight, Rally Point Bravo. You'll fight through a couple of rooms and down a shaft. (These rooms are some great places to get Watcher kills.) Eventually you'll go through some portals into a room with a lot of Covenant weaponry.

    Grab the Gravity Hammer and the Incineration Cannon. You should get a checkpoint either here or just through the portal.

    During this next section, there are about 6 Knights, 1-2 Watchers and a bunch of crawlers. Go crazy with the Hammer and take everyone down. Then, either when you kill everything or die, restart the checkpoint. Rinse, repeat.

    This is also a great place to earn a few others as well, especially Chief, Smash if you don't have it already...you're almost guaranteed to get it without even trying. The medals will also pile up as you get multikills.

    MasterTimosGreat point in the game to mop up the crawler kills. I wouldn't go for it though if i had too many of them left. Gets too boring after a while. Great solution though +1
