This is unlocked when you chain 10 puyo matches.

As this is a longer chain, I highly recommend doing this in the wide-play-area puyo option in Dream Arcade.

To get there, go to the yellow option on the main menu, then click the bottom right option on the second menu. On the third menu, pick the top right option. Then choose your character. On the next screen, you'll see your character, and three options at the bottom of the screen, with the middle one selected. Select the right option, and press A. This allows you to choose your difficulty. Yellow is Easy. Orange is Normal. Red is Hard.

Choose Yellow. This will allow you to play with only three colours on a playing field that is 10 columns wide, which makes getting combos MUCH easier, despite you sometimes having puyo pieces that are 2x2 in size drop down from the top of the screen.

On this easy mode, you'll be playing with puyos that are red, blue, and green in colour. For the sake of readability, pretend that each button below is the puyo pieces, and you'll see the setup you want to use:

    cn_backcn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_B
    cn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_Bcn_X
    cn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_Bcn_X
    cn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_Bcn_Xcn_Acn_Bcn_X

If you follow something similar to the above pattern, you should have no problem getting chains of close to and above 10. Obviously, the above pattern is moving from the left side of the screen, so you can get rid of the 2x2 puyo pieces that drop on the right side of the screen.

You can see this method in action in the video I have made below:

Here's a solid setup to get this if you're bad like me and can't plan this stuff out yourself as was the case for me, hence why it's a twelve combo and not just ten because I found this from someone else.

(Above link may not work on phones or other mobile devices.)
Credit to shoe-sama on Puyo Nexus for this.

Here's a video of me recreating the above setup.

Pick the left or right side to build, it doesn't matter and then put all your junk puyos that don't fit with the setup on the other side.
You'll see I put a few in between the two by accident, it's fine as long as it doesn't disrupt anything. It's also fine to have a couple Puyos on top of your chain area.
(Sorry it's not the full game from the start but I don't think that's needed anyway, Puyo's are random.)

Setup the game as described in TSG Dwaggie's method.
Except do not change difficulty (the thing he does after he selects his character) as you need the fourth Puyo color to recreate the above setup.
Pick the character I picked, you can see her in the video. She wears like a blue wizard outfit, orange hair and has that star guy with her. She only gives you two Puyo pieces, so less hassle getting what you need.
Once you have it built, activate the red trigger in the upper right corner like seen in the video. You don't need a double red Puyo, just a single one will work.

Once the chain finishes at the twelve counter, just create a line of Puyo's to the top of the screen to end the match and the challenge should pop.
