Welcome to my guide for the Overclocker achievement on The Crew (Xbox 360).

Due to this game being a glitchfest, and the odometer resetting every time you quit the game, the only way to unlock this achievement is by buying a new car, and doing it in one sitting. It will take a minimum of 22 hours.

First, you need to make sure you play normal career mode, until you unlock Los Angeles, as it also unlocks the level 40 parts, which will make your car faster, and make the grind last less time.

Second, you need a turbo controller, where you are able to "turbo" the Right trigger. I used this one:

If you do not have a turbo controller, get a group of friends (3 or 4) that will take turns to play the game for 20-odd hours. This method will not be safe as the more it is happening in the screen (graphics, people coming on your session, etc), the more chances you have of the game crashing.

For the turbo method:

I used the method explained on that video, for which I take no credit, and I thank http://www.trueachievements.com/Claudio+10+Juve.htm for leading me to it:

This is me after getting the achievement:

What you have to do is, with a brand new car, with Level 40 Circuit upgrades on, to go on to the Little Eagle Speedrome, or to the Bonneville Salt Flats, and then gain some speed. Do that with a normal Xbox 360 controller. Before you start accelerating, make sure you press cn_start, then pick the "BACK TO HQ" option, without choosing it yet.

Gain speed. Once you are at around 220-230mph, press cn_A twice, very fast. That will take you to the HQ, while keeping your speed at whatever you had when you double-clicked cn_A.

Once in the HQ, press cn_A to enter the WORKSHOP. Remove the battery of your Xbox 360 controller. That should turn it off. If it doesn't turn off... call a ghost buster.

Now connect your turbo controller.

Press cn_RT once. That will bring you to the DEMO mode.

Now activate the turbo function so that your cn_RT stays on turbo for the next 22 or more hours. Get some good sellotape, a set of pliers, or whatever you think it is good to keep your cn_RT pressed for the next day. The achievement will unlock once you reach 5,000 miles, even if you are still in the DEMO menu, but you need to get back to the game to actually receive the award for the 5,000 miles in a single car.

This method took me 3 tries. If you are using an old style Xbox 360, make sure that it is well ventilated, as this game makes your Xbox run quite hot.

Good luck, and don't give up.
