Currently the Hardest achievement in the game because all LASO's are currently bugged and making them too easy.

EDIT: According to Rey27 : Save/Quit method is patched. You can only save/quit once per level now. (sorry everyone who still needs this...)

To clarify something that some people don't understand is that this can be mixed times for Co-op and Solo! The trick is if you do any missions in Co-op you must also do it in Solo, meaning to get this achievement you must FINISH every mission Solo. If your best time is in Co-op and you don't need to attempt a better time in Solo then put the scarab skull on and finish the mission.

The Heretic and Armory must be completed on legendary to unlock the achievement (no enemies). Thanks for reminding me Twobby!

All credit for videos goes to Nak3d Eli, if it weren't for him I wouldn't have this achievement!

    How to check your times:

Halo Waypoint has your Co-op and Solo Times:

    https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us

When you are on your profile (make sure to sign up or login) click the blue box that says "View Service record" that will drop down and you click "Halo The Master Chief Collection". Your times will be under "Campaign Completion Per Game" Just make sure to use the boxes to change campaign and Solo or Co-op.

You can also check the leaderboards on Halo TMCC for Par times, if they don't load then the time didn't count (they take a little while to load so give it a sec at first).

To tell your overall time you can go to this site and input your times, it will add up to your overall time in TMCC:

http://www.unitarium.com/time-calculator (This is what I used to calculate my times)

    SAVE/QUIT METHOD

Note: You won't get in trouble for doing this method from 343 but its possible they will patch this or a patch could make it not work. On the same note, its possible a patch could make the save/quit method work better or always work.

To do the Save/quit method you pause your game in a mission and Save/Quit. Then once your back on the menu RESUME the mission and it will go back to the beginning of the checkpoint without any deaths, and resetting the time when you first hit the checkpoint.

The Save/quit method will work as long as you don't quit out on the last checkpoint. If you do it wrong it will set the mission time at 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Also Note: You cannot do the save/quit method in Co-op, I do not know if it works split screen.

Having problems? A possible solution (Thanks to Hurricane Matt) heres what he said:

I figured it out, and it is something that might be useful to your guide. It turns out that the any checkpoint in the final area of a level counts as a "final checkpoint". Since I was saving and quitting during the flood battle at the end of Sacred Icon, I was voiding the achievement since once you reach that area you never leave for the rest of the mission, but continue to get checkpoints.

I ended up just saving and quitting throughout the level up until the final area and then played that normally and the time stuck on the leaderboards.

    Tips:

1)Do 1 mission a day if you are getting too stressed out on 1 mission because if you become too stressed you will play worse, sometimes a break can make you play much better with a clear mind.

    2) I recommend Solo over Co-op for the fact that if your partner dies, you die too, most people do Co-op i'm sure but using these videos will be less effective or impossible on Co-op.

    3) Do all missions before trying to make amazing times on each one, if you have an estimation on how much time you need to decrease you can set goals to decrease your times. Every time I finished a mission I would use notepad to make a list of all my current times and how much I can decrease it, make an overall time and a time that shows how low you can go. Then when you are finished and you need about say 5:66 less, choose your missions with the biggest estimation that you can drop (my biggest times were 10 minutes I could improve it by)

    4) You can always try different things, if the method on the videos aren't working for you, then try your own that is possible. You don't have to do as good as every speed run in the video, all the times together are way below 3 hours. You can save yourself some time doing it regularly than exactly what is done in the video.

    5) Check other speed run videos out. Some are different methods than others, these videos are basically the newest current methods put together but it can be surprising when you find something else new slightly easier and either saving you time, not losing time, or sacrificing little time.

    6) When watching the videos make sure to watch a good bit of it before attempting it, sometimes you will miss something or Eli will say it a bit later.

    7) I put difficulty on each mission on the ones that were definitely the most struggling, if any jumps are done in the mission or tricks, practice should be done before hand. There are a multitude of ways to practice, its up to you.

    8) Never give up

    9) Believe

slickdewmasterI just got done getting this achievement with the help from Gamertag BEAN TH3 REAPER. He is willing to help anyone who reaches out. Average total time is around 2 hours so plenty of leeway.

Halo Zero 122The above two comments are obvious spam.
For anyone using this guide, the summary of times on Waypoint include every difficulty, so it's not any help determining which missions you need to complete.

Hey all, this is more of a tracker than a guide. I wrote a script which will add up all your times and give you a per-mission breakdown of the par time, your time, and the difference.

    Here's an example:
    External image

I've made a gist and put it on GitHub here:
    https://gist.github.com/Vestride/759832a8938baf51903e

    Steps
    1. Sign in to http://halowaypoint.com
    2. Click on your name in the top right and then "Profile" from the drop down menu.
    3. Click the blue "Service Record" drop down and select MCC.
    4. Scroll down to "CAMPAIGN COMPLETION PER GAME"
    5. Change the settings to get the game and solo/co-op right.
    6. Open the developer tools.
6.5. For Chrome, either right click and "Inspect Element" or go to the menu > "More Tools" (at the bottom) > JavaScript Console.
    7. Paste the snippet in the console and hit enter.
    8. It will print your total time and then a table showing you more information for each mission.

Feel free to fork and contribute!

    Caveats
    * This script could break at any time if they update the html.
    * The page will show the highest difficulty completed time, meaning it will mix legendary, heroic, normal, and easy all in the same list.

In game, you can also view your current total by going to Options & Career (start), then Career, select the last tab labeled Stats, select your game Halo 2, then tab over to Campaign and scroll the list all the way down. There you should see "Fastest Clear Time (legendary)" with your current best total.

Just a clarification about the Save/Quit method and where you should not use it.
I thought I would do some kind of summary of it because when I was going for this achievement I always had doubts about when I could quit or not.

    --------------
Quick explanations on the Save/Quit method and the related glitch for those who haven't read the other posts/solutions.

Save/Quit Method, what is it ?

    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Why should I be careful with it on Halo 2 ?

    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Now I know that that "last area of the mission blablabla" stuff can be a little confusing that's why I've listed here the places where you must not Save/quit anymore so that you won't have any doubt about it.

    1- Cairo Station
Don't save/quit anymore once you reach the final room with the bomb inside it. That means here.

    2- Outskirts
Don't save/quit anymore once you reach the end of the tunnel. That means here.

    3- Metropolis
Actually on this level you should really try the scarab glitch (explained here). You can also use the sputnik skull (much easier way, explained here). You can Save/Quit as much as you want if you try to get to that scarab at that point, because the game doesn't load the last section of the mission so you're fine.

    4- The Arbiter

Don't save/quit anymore once you get into the banshee. That means here.

    5- Oracle
Don't Save/Quit anymore once you reach the fight against the Heretic.

    6- Delta Halo

Don't save/quit anymore once you get in the room at the very end of the mission with the 4 strong elites. That meanshere.

    7-Regret
Don't save/quit anymore once you reach that cutscene right before entering into Regret's building (after the second gondola ride). That means here. And that means "lol thanks game".

    8- Sacred Icon.
I'll need confirmation on this one. I stop Saving/Quitting when I reached the "100.000 Years War" chapter (that means here because I wasn't sure if it would register it or not. Maybe you can still Save/Quit until you reach the very last section where you have do defend your position until the phantom arrives, but I wouldn't risk it, the end of the mission isn't very hard.

    9-Quarantine Zone
Well, you can Save/Quit during the entire mission because you simply cannot die once you reach the glitched gondola unless you decided by yourself to jump to your death.

    10- Gravemind
Don't Save/Quit anymore once you reach the final room (which is that room). You wouldn't want to do this mission again because the time didn't register, would you ?

    11- Uprising
You can Save/quit everywhere, you'll skip 99% of the mission anyway.

    12- High Charity
Don't Save/Quit anymore once you reach the final gravity lift. That means here.

    13- The Great Journey
Don't Save/Quit anymore once you reach the Tartarus fight.

    -------------
Also, I'm giving a shout-out to all the people that created this topic and posted in it. There are some really cool infos about speedrunning strategies using skulls.
Of course you REALLY should watch Nak3d Eli's videos linked everywhere on this page and follow his strategies to get the best times.
I would suggest you to start by Gravemind, which is considered as the hardest mission, and see if you can pull off a sub-40 run, because if you do you're most probably able to get this achievement.

For strategies/general advices, follow the other solutions. This is just a piece of information about the glitching checkpoints.

Sir LagselotHow do you tell which missions did and which missions did not count? I used to save and glitch method for a lot of my levels but sometimes I didn't die at the end.

th0ed eI just finished my speed run of halo ce and now looking to h2. is not save/quitting in the final area still applicable today? or can I save and quit generously like in halo ce now?
    Posted by th0ed e on 01 Feb 21 at 02:44
TheBiggsyIt it helps, I've been save and quiting in the final checkpoint and my times are being recorded as can be seen on Halo Waypoint. GT - TheBiggsy, feel free to check the times. I imagine the whole not registering times thing was patched when MCC redid all of its stuff for PC.
