Be warned there is a bug which prevents you to build houses and when you press
to build nothing happens. If this occurs then end your turn and let the other players take their turn and quit to main menu when it is your turn again and load the game again, then take your turn and afterwards highlight the property you wish to build a house on and after that you should be able to build...I hope...at least it worked for me.
I read this only occured when you played on the Living board which is what I played on during my first game. All other games after that (2 for mopping up the remaining achievements and 2 more for recreational enjoyment) were played on the Classic board and the glitch did not occur which convinced me further that the Classic board was the best way to play the game to avoid the glitch....however DownInFlames85 informed me below that this glitched on him while playing on the Classic board....so sadly this can glitch on either board.
Credit for this goes to ChrisAldin who posted the fix on the Xbox Achievements forum for this game, or at least this was where I discovered it, I tried it and it worked. So thanks to ChrisAldin for the fix.
In case you are not familiar with Monopoly and its rules, you can only build houses when you have a complete colour set, for example all three yellow properties or both brown properties. Once you have a set, go to the property you wish to build on, either by using the D-pad or via the map screen using
, then press
to build a house and barring any glitches you should be able to build and the achievement unlocks.
