I found this to be the hardest of the survivors.

The extractions come random. For me Dan was one of the last two the first run through i played, but during my 3rd run through he was 3rd.

When going to save Dan Bogatz, you will find that his vechicle on the highway has been abandonned and that he is in the nearby warehouse (there is an open door on the highway).

Right away Dan is being swarmed by zombies, and although he does have a little more health then the other survivors, he doesn't last for long. (all 3 times i found him he was being swarmed by more than 6-8 zombies).

Be prepared. Silencers would be ideal as my gun shots brought a shit load more zombies. also you can bring a distraction clock and petro bombs.

How I finally did it, (and I can't say for sure if you can copy this)

I went to Dan as soon as the mission came up. I took a buddy to back me up. I took a silenced assault rifle. When I got there he was being swarmed. It was night. I opened fire trying to get head shots but even though i had a silencer, more kept coming.

They overwhelmed me and were almost in the process of killing all 3 of us. I held the cn_guide button and turned off the console. I turned the console back on, changed the game (to a install on HD game) and immediantly started this game (on disc). Then it asked me to sign in with user and when i did my character was alone with Dan and all the zombies were gone.

I then continued to search for the daughter.

In closing, try to do this during the day. But you really have no control over it. Do it as soon as possible. If a survivor is about to die, hold the cn_guide button and turn off the console. Exiting from the game by means of cn_start seams to save progress and thus the death of the survivor.

This works for ANY survivor that you are trying to save. When you find them, if they are being swarmed by ZEDs simply toss a moltov or fire grenade at the survivor. This will kill all the ZEDs and NOT the survivor... assuming you came in enough time to save them. I have never killed a survivor using this method. This is also silent so it will not attract more attention.
