Just a few quick tips to help anyone struggling with this achievement.

First off, there is a blaze spawner in the tutorial worlds nether at X: 122, Y: 62, Z: 107. You can't see your map in the nether, but you can still see coordinates. To get to the nether, I went to the building at coordinates X: -115, Y: 63, Z: 316 in the overworld, where you can mine diamonds and obsidian. Which is the same building where the Rainbow Collection Achievement can be easily obtained.

There is also a nether portal already constructed in the tutorial world, in the castle down the small stairs opposite the hay bail courtyard. (Thank you to PLANET13 for the location)

And in order to avoid enemies in the nether, I loaded it up on peaceful, made my way to the spawner, saved and quit and then reloaded the game on easy and killed a blaze.

    Hope this helps!

This achievement isn't too bad, first you must create a Nether Portal. View the solution below if you don't know how to build one. You will get an achievement for 40 gamerscore if you haven't already built one. If you don't wish to build a Nether Portal, you can always join a friends world who already has one.

Once you have your Nether Portal built, go through to the Nether (make sure you are playing on Survival mode and at least Easy difficulty)

Once you enter, find a blaze. They are yellow floating enemies that shoot fire balls at you. Kill one and hope that it drops a rod. It would make things much easier if you use armor and a good sword to kill it faster but it is not necessary.

UPDATE: If you have a friend who has already killed a blaze and picked up a rod, all you have to do is have him/her drop it so you can pick it up and the achievement is yours.

"Also you can load a world where you already have Blaze Rods, drop one and then pick it up. No need for someone else's world or Blaze Rod." - Saint Redfield

"Top tip: if you kill it with arrows it will drop a rod and more stuff." - PLANET13

If you already have blaze rods from playing prior to these achievements being unlocked (or find one randomly in a chest somewhere) you can simply put the rod in a chest and then break the chest. As soon it drops the rod the achievement will unlock.

I found the nether portal very easy to build in the current tutorial world “Elytra”.

If you are able to go into the nether, the easiest way to find a Blaze is to change the difficulty to “peaceful”, go into the nether, find a castle made out of those red nether bricks (the “castle” will have windows). Break in with a Pickaxe. Save and exit, then load the game on “easy” and the enemies should re spawn.

The great thing about the current tutorial is how easy it is to go in with an enchanted diamond sword, armor and a bunch of food, as all those crafting materials are in the village already (as well as lava buckets for making the obsidian nether portal).
