As mentioned, "That's the Ticket" is story-related and unmissable.

After passing the Chivalry challenge at the tournament headquarters, the guards send all competitors out to find "the eye of a hideous beast."

After speaking with Amaya Blackstone (the local blacksmith), follow the main path north (past a self-shaking bush) until you reach the second path to the left. Turn left, toward the statue and covered tournament board. Pick up the bell. Go west (left).

(Optional) If you go south to the pumpkin patch, and then west (left), you'll see a guard wielding a fruit picker. Showing him the bells will result in an explanation about why those bells are hung all around the intersection which contains the king's statue.

Go north (up) into town. Talk with the merchants in all three shops, and explore all of the dialogue options. Each merchant will want you to do something for them, and each will have something you can buy for one coin (all the money you have at the time).

As with other parts of King's Quest, there are three methods to achieve this goal: Valor, Cleverness, or Kindness.

You will eventually need to do all of the quests described below. Which one you choose to do first will have an impact on the rest of the game.

Valor: Dragon's eye

Spend your last coin by giving it to Amaya Blackstone (the Blacksmith) to buy the "gardening tool."

Leave town through the back door (and close it behind you). Take the north path (up) to the place where the thorns were too tough for the small hatchet.

-

(This is the same place where you earn the secret achievement "A Prickly Situation." It can be missed. If you do not already have that achievement, get it before following my next instructions.)

-

Use the gardening tool to whack a path through the spiniferous thornweeds (the weed-whacker will fly out of your hands when the path is clear). Go down the well, and proceed through the story.

-

(There are two "secret" achievements in this area which can easily be missed, so visit solutions for "Dead End Dancer" and "Opening Knight" to avoid missing them).

-

Eventually, a choice comes about whether to shoot at the dragon's eye, or else shoot an arrow with a rope toward a place to escape. Choose to shoot at the eye.

After the cut scene, take the dragon's eye to the knights at the tournament headquarters. Following the cut scenes which that action triggers, Graham should find himself in the intersection with the King's statue, and you should see the achievement notification. smile

Clever: Lantern
- or -
Kind: Pie

Leave town by the front gate, and turn east (right). In the next area, with the king's statue and the tournament board, turn north (up). There you will see a steak dangling over a pit. Go toward it, just enough to trigger the green cord around the area. Then walk to the tree, and interact with it to obtain the steak.

While you are there, go down the ladder into the pit and collect the sugarshrooms for Wente Fey (the baker). Leave the pit, and proceed east (right) until you see a sign that says "Don't Turn Right" (because there is no floating island there). Turn right to reach a picnic, on a table in a small clearing with a nice view. Interact with the right tree to obtain the starberries Wente (the baker) wants. This will also have the side-effect of knocking down a beehive.

Return, traveling west (left), to the area with the King's statue.

-

(Next, if you don't have the "Misteak" achievement, go and get it. That achievement is missable. Do not give the starfruits or sugarshrooms to Wente, the baker, not yet... and don't forget to close the town's back door behind you. After you have acquired "Misteak," return to town. Travel through town and then turn east (right), to return to the area with the King's statue.)

-

Go south, past the tournament board, to the main road (which leads to the competition headquarters and guards). Continue south until you've passed an option to turn left. Shortly after passing that road, you should find yourself in a different area. There should be a green bush which is shaking itself, to the northwest of the path. Drop the steak by the interactive bush, and collect a badger.

Turn north (up), and this time take the first path to the west (left). Continue past the pumpkin patch to a tree with a fruit picker leaning against it. Collect the fruit picker. Return to the pumpkin patch.

-

(If you need the "Purple Badger Doesn't Care" achievement, go north into town and then into the Hobblepots' potion shoppe. Dip the badger into the large pot to turn it purple. Leave town by traveling south through the front gate.)

-

Travel north and east (up and right), from the town or pumpkin patch, to reach the picnic.

Acquire the "Purple Badger Doesn't Care" achievement, if you have not already done so.

Use the fruit-picker to throw the beehive away from the picnic. Travel south and west / down and left to return to the pumpkin patch.

Use the [purple] badger on the largest pumpkin, to drive off the squirrels. Then pick up the pumpkin. Travel north to town.

Go into the bakery, and give Wente Fey the sugarshrooms and starberries.

Go to the Hobblepots' potion shoppe. (Optional: you can dip the pumpkin into the pot, turning it purple instead of orange.) Give the pumpkin to the Hobblepots.

Up to this point, the necessary actions are the same for either the "Clever" or the "Kind" solution. Here they diverge.

~-

Clever: Lantern

Give your coin to the Hobblepots in their potion shoppe. Take the lantern to the guards at the tournament headquarters (travel east and then south), and show it to them. Following the cut scenes which that action triggers, Graham should find himself in the intersection with the King's statue, and you should see the achievement notification. smile

~-

Kind: Pie

Give your coin to Wente Fey, the baker. Take the pie and travel east (right) past the king's statue, and then south past the tournament board. At the next intersection, turn to the east (right). Travel until you are crossing a bridge.

After getting shaken off the bridge, and going through all of the available dialogue options, exit the conversation and give the pie to Olfie.

Following the cut scenes which that action triggers, Graham should find himself in the intersection with the King's statue, and you should see the achievement notification. smile
