For those having trouble with this, this tip is from Microsoft Solitaire Collection's Facebook page:
"Some of our fans were wondering how to get the Mining for Gold achievement. As you can see in this video, the easiest way to play with one card (instead of 3 card) Klondike. Use only the cards from the deck that you need to reveal the rest of the face-down cards on the board. Above all else, make sure you have at least 5 cards in your deck unplayed. Once you have it set, go to the very end of the deck and work backwards. After you've played 5 cards in a row from your deck, you'll get the Mining for Gold Achievement."

Now in summary, make sure all the cards on the board are flipped using as few cards from the deck as possible. Once you have 5 or more cards left and all other cards flipped over, just start putting cards to the foundation! If it doesn't work out, remember where you get stuck and use undo.

Here is the video that they used to demonstrate their method (All credit to Microsoft Solitaire Collection):

xTMx VoytekYou have to use 5 straight from your waste pile BEFORE drawing a new card from the deck, it's not cumulative. The moment you draw a card, your count resets. Yes, the waste pile is the pile that you have already flipped over from the deck.

ALoneWolf42@xTMx Voytek: I'm not sure what went wrong, but yesterday I was very careful and set it up so I had 10 cards in the waste pile and used them all without drawing a new card. 10 cards! It still didn't work. cry

The only 2 things I can thing of:
-It may have been a Daily Challenge game, and didn't count. (Daily challenge games don't count in my 100 Klondike games tally.)
-I may have turned off Wifi to disable ads. (I think this might also disable 100 Klondikes tally.)

ALoneWolf42I tried again: On Easy mode, 1 card draw, not a Daily challenge, Wifi was on. 7 cards this time. It still won't trigger.

Do you have to place the cards on a stack? I've been using Aces so maybe this disallows the run.

ALoneWolf42This is so annoying.. I've completed this so many times now but it still won't pop. I've even tried uninstalling & reinstalling the app, no luck. cry
    I think it's broken.

CrazyWharf625For some reason, trying to set it up won't increase your chance of getting the achievement. I tried to do this hundreds of times and it didn't work a single time. I just so happened to get it to unlock this morning, but I wasn't trying to go for it. Just keep playing Klondike, whether it'd be a normal game or a daily challenge (yes, challenges count towards it, as that's where it unlocked for me), and it will eventually unlock, but just know it can take quite a long time.

Oh okay. I usually undo my hand a lot to try and set it up. Maybe that's screwing me up?

I took photos this time (just to prove that I met the requirements). Going backwards in the pile my cards are 6S, 4D, 7C, 4S, 4C, and 7H.

    So I played:
    -4D on 5S
    -7C on 8H
    -4S on discard pile
    -4C on discard pile
    -7H on 8C
-drew a new card (the 6S)
    -6S on discard pile
