The other solution presented is correct, but I felt that some strategies among other tips and tricks should be presented for this one.

When the achievement says "Beat the Game," it refers to beating all 8 Nightmare Levels along with the original Abyss Levels. I completed all the Abyss levels on the low setting and the achievement hadn't popped.

My first playthrough, I beat every level on High brightness. This helped me learn the controls well and gain an understanding of the level layout. If you're having trouble with any particular level, consider replaying the level on a higher brightness to learn it a little better.

Playing Tips:
-Play in a room with less light/no glare. Even with the lowest brightness in the game, you can still see some of the outline of the level if you look closely. Any brightness around you however can make it impossible to notice. Glare especially (I tried playing in a car/train and couldn't see much of anything as a result) will further limit your visibility.

-GO SLOWLY!!! The levels aren't overly complicated, but flying/floating/swimming into an area can really ruin a good run. Observe patterns before making your move. This is part of why I recommend doing a level on high brightness so you better learn everything.

-Moving Obstacles: In the early levels, the moving blocks glow red and falling boulders release bubbles. Even on low brightness with the objects outside your light, you can still see these. Pay attention to these cues. In later levels (especially Nightmares), the spinning blades do not glow at all so going slow can make sure you don't run into anything.

-Caution/Crashing: If you get hit, don't rush yourself. Hang back and heal before proceeding again. No point in rushing yourself and dying.

-Gaias: For the most part, the levels are extremely linear. Especially as you get further into the game, you can't miss the Gaias throughout the level. In early levels, there is some openness so you will need to explore the boundaries a little so you don't miss any. I found that by not being able to see the walls with minimal light it was possible to miss a Gaia that was a little further off the quickest path.

As noted by QuickMythril, you can also turn up the brightness on the phone to help make things a little more visible even with the game brightness all the way down. I think mine was already at the highest, so I don't know how much this will help.
