Just as a heads up. Pause Buffering is still present and alive in Mega Man 1.

This is the only game in the Legacy Collection that you'll have to beat from start to finish to unlock this Achievement; all the other games have Passwords you can use to skip large parts of the game. Luckily you can use save states to have unlimited attempts at the tougher parts.

A nice trick: You can press cn_LB to pause the game in freeze-frame, without bringing up the weapons menu. This can be abused in an interesting way: If you keep pausing/resuming while specific weapon sprites are in contact with enemy sprites, the enemy will be damaged every time you do so. This is especially useful on the bosses Yellow Devil and Wily 2.

Here's the order I suggest for the initial six Robot Master stages, with the boss's weakness listed (although you will of course not be able to use that weapon on the first boss you pick!), which is the same order the Mega Man Home Page suggests:

1. Bomb Man: Weak against Fire Man's Fire Storm (F)
2. Guts Man: Weak against Bomb Man's Hyper Bombs (B)
3. Cut Man: Weak against Guts Man's Super Arm (G)
4. Elec Man: Weak against Cut Man's Rolling Cutter (C)
5. Ice Man: Weak against Elec Man's Thunder Beam (E)
6. Fire Man: Weak against Ice Man's Ice Slasher (I)

NOTE: You will need to pick up the Magnet Beam in Elec Man's stage to progress through Wily's Castle. It's also very useful to bypass tough platforming areas. To reach the Magnet Beam you need to possess Super Arm, so either beat Guts Man before you go to Elec Man's stage, or return to Elec Man after you've beaten Guts Man. The Magnet Beam is located here (image courtesy of MMHP):

While progressing through Wily's Castle, you will fight all the six Robot Masters once more. Just use the weapons listed above. You will encounter them in this order: Cut Man, Elec Man, Bomb Man, Fire Man, Ice Man, Guts Man

Wily's Castle bosses:

Yellow Devil: Weak against Thunder Beam (E). You can use the pause/resume trick mentioned above to beat him very quickly.

Copy Robot: Weak against Fire Storm (F), although using the Thunder Beam (E) in conjunction with the pause/resume trick works well too, as do the Hyper Bombs (B). Even the regular arm cannon (P) could be good to use since the clone equips the same weapon you do.

CWU-01P (bubbles): Weak against Super Arm (G). Probably wise to use it for the last four bubbles, and it's advised to save state before fighting this boss, because the blocks do not respawn if you die. For the first bubbles, the arm cannon (P) or Fire Storm (F) work well.

Wily 1: Weak against Fire Storm (F). Use the pause/resume trick for great success.

Wily 2: Weak against Thunder Beam (E). Also a prime candidate for the pause/resume trick.
