How to unlock the Outstanding coach achievement

You gain levels as a coach by completing league matches against the AI or ranked league matches against players. The game was patched so that you no longer gain any coach experience from single player or non-ranked league matches against players.

You need a total of 706 experience to reach level 20. You gain 10 experience per game you complete (no forfeiting) and an additional 3 experience if you win. This means you need a minimum of 55 matches won to reach coach level 20. If you are good you can win a match against the AI in 30 minutes but the difficulty increases the better your team gets. Still, looking at a minimum of 28 hours isn't really promising. Fortunately, there is an easier method.

This can be boosted in ranked leave matches. To do so you need at least one other player. You need to create a new team for it to be eligible for the ranked league. Once you have a fresh team (you can use the automated roster generation), join a multilayer league and look for the sponsored NAF Ranked league with, at the time of writing, 8000+ players. It is by far the largest league and should be easy to spot. Now all you need to do is join the free competition and coordinate with your partner.

The matchmaking system in Blood Bowl is on a five minute timer. Even if there are enough people, it will only start matches in a wave. So don't panic if your match won't start immediately. As soon as you select cn_Y to "Find Opponent" it will also tell you the remaining time for the wave so you know when your match will start.

The following section was written when a second, non-free competition was available. Currently there is only the free ladder. Should there be a second ladder again, feel free to use the striken-though paragraphs to half the time required to boost this achievement.
You can use this to your advantage. As you joined the free competition, you may have noticed the 2015 Fall Ladder competition with a 20 Cyan entry fee. Once you played a few matches and have the coin you can create a second team and enter this competition. The reason is that the timer for both competitions are slightly off (15 seconds) and, thus, you could start two games per wave if you are quick enough. All you need to do it quickly hit cn_Y again once you are back on that screen after your first match ended as starting a match removes you from all queues.

As soon as you are matched up you can select the resources you want to buy for the match and, fortunately, you can also hit cn_B to concede. Whoever concedes gets no points but the boosting partner will earn 13. Using this strategy you will get 13 XP every 10 minutes or roughly 78 an hour. Using this method you should be able to get the achievement in about 10 hours.

If you have set yourself up with a second team and are fast enough to re-queue before the wave for the Fall Ladder launches, you can each get one win per wave, that is, 5 minutes. This bring down the time needed to boost this achievement to just short of the five hour mark (12 wins an hour).

Bears Scare MeSo this can only be done in the NAF Official League? It can't be done by creating your own league? How difficult was matching up in a league of 9000 people?

Epsilon ThetaIt depends on the times of day as there are some players religiously playing this. Unfortunately the timers don't help being able to match up. I found that being close in rank helps but is not a guarantee to match up. Since the developers are still supporting their game, I hope whey will soon start another ladder which should speed up boosting tremendously.

el tebyIf you are double boxing, the max games i could get out of a dummy was 7. I recommend deleting the overleveled team and make a new one to be able to match up. If not, it will keep repeating the 5 minute cycle without matching you to your lower leveled dummy. The team doesn't matter because the coach level stays the same

Coach level is dependent on XP. You gain 10 XP each time you complete a match, plus a bonus of 3 for a win or 1 for a tie. The achievement popped for me at 706 XP. This leads me to believe that the threshold for level 20 is 700 XP, but it could potentially be anywhere between 694 and 706. Please leave a comment if you can help with the exact number.

Any solo or multiplayer league match counts for XP. Friendlies do not count. The early campaign matches don't count either, so grinding them will not work.

If your opponent quits in the pre-game phase, you get no XP, but if they quit mid-game, you get the 13 XP for the win. If you yourself concede or disconnect, you get no XP.

There's no real shortcut for this, its just a matter of playing the games. Depending on how many you win and how many you lose, it will take a minimum of 54 games and a maximum of 71.

MachJTYou can also just set the turn timer to 1 minute, start up an AI match and let the game run while you do something else.

aristeiaIt's not 700 XP. I've played as a Chaos team through 4 divisions against AI. I've won them all except one game where I fell asleep in the 2nd half winning 1-0, they drew 1-1 on turn 16 (I skipped through the replay to see what happened). Just won a game an hit 700XP, still level 19 so 1 more to play (53 wins x 13 + 1 draw at 11). 54 game is the minimum it seems.

I've found it fun to play with the one team and to build it up (although my best Chaos Warrior and my Minotaur both died this season) but only would play 1 game in an evening (it's vs the AI after all) to pace it out.

MorseyBabyIt's above 702 XP as I hit that and still needed one more match
