In order to begin this quest line, you must first complete the quest Shattered Past. In order to get this quest from Eris Morn, you must first find one calcified fragment. Once done, speak to Eris and she will give you the Shattered Past quest, which requires you to find 5 more calcified fragments.

Return to Eris Morn to complete Shattered Past. In order to get the next quest, you must find and collect calcified fragments until you have 15 out of 50. So, since you should have 6 fragments at this point, this means you only need to get 9 more. Once this is done, speak to Eris Morn again, and she will give you the first part of the Hunger Pangs quest.

The first step will be to complete a heroic version of the Promethean Code mission on Earth. You will have to kill a specific Taken Centurion, called Bracus, that appears and collect the item it drops and then return back to Eris Morn with it.

The second step requires you to find a total of 30 calcified fragments. Once you have obtained 30 calcified fragments and have completed the Old Hunger quest, speak to Eris Morn and she will give you part two of the Hunger Pangs quest. You will have to complete a special version of the Undying Mind and kill a Taken Knight called Morgath, Lore-Keeper and collect the item it drops and then bring it back to Eris Morn.

To unlock the third and final part of the Hunger Pangs quest, you have to first complete the Old Hunger quest. To unlock this quest, you just need to enter the King's Fall raid. You can immediately return to orbit. All you need to do is to launch it. Once done, return to Eris Morn and she will give you the Old Hunger Quest. This quest basically requires you to complete the King's Fall Raid. This Raid definitely requires a full fireteam of 6 to complete, even on Normal difficulty.

You will need to kill The Warpriest, the Deathsinger Sisters, and Oryx, and obtain the items they drop. Once done, return to Eris Morn and she will then task you with providing 50 Hadium Flakes, 50 Weapons Parts, and 25 Wormspore. Gather those resources and bring them back to Eris. Then, you must find a total of 45 calcified fragments.

So, basically, 15 more than you should already have. Once this is done, speak to Eris Morn, and she will task you with completing a special version of the second mission to Phobos (Mars), Fear's Embrace. You must defeat a Taken Wizard called Mar-Zik, the Blightcaller and collect the item it drops. Return to Eris Morn, and she will give you the exotic scout rifle, Touch of Malice, and you will have completed this quest.

This is the quest that rewards you with the Exotic scout rifle "Touch of Malice" from "The Taken King" DLC. The requirements for getting to this quest are having completed the "King's Fall" raid at least once and having completed the quests "Shattered Past," "Hunger Pangs" pt. 1, "Hunger Pangs" pt.2, and "Hunger Pangs" pt. 3. These are started by acquiring the calcified fragment Grimoire pickups in "The Taken King." The requirements for total number of fragments needed per quest are 1, 15, 30, and 45.

This Planet Destiny guide over Touch of Malice, while fairly basic, is also straightforward and really good in my opinion.

Also included is the relative location of all of the fragments in a video by YouTuber "Gaming Since Gaming."
