    Mission: Evacuation
About halfway through when you run out of room to drive your vehicle you will get the first opportunity to start saving miners and must keep at least 6 alive until you clear the elevator of the first wave, hope this help!

adrenilinnMake sure enough walk through the last door. I saved 10, but only 4 went through the door. The door closes after you go through and cuts of the miners.

Gilbert PrimeI think there is a random factor in spawning miners because I made a hard save right when I drove up to the crashed Pelican. First attempt: 7 survived to enter the elevator (and 2 died inside). Second attempt: 4 miners. Third attempt: 17 miners!

EDIT: A few days later and I'm convinced there's a BS random factor. I did a score attack run on Heroic with Thunderstorm and Catch skulls. I took my time to max my score and still 10 miners entered the elevator with me. I completely ignored them but by the time the pulse wave killed them all at the top, there were 8 left.

So long story short, I don't think anything before the crashed Pelican matters. Make a hard save there then replay the skirmish until you end up with 8+ miners entering the elevator.

mikachu93Six miners made it to the very end of the elevator segment (the escape portion), but the achievement never popped. Is this buggy? Three were in a warthog, if that makes a difference.

Edit: I got the achievement on my next playthrough, but I can't tell what triggered it. I did too many things differently. First playthrough: score attack on, six miners in elevator, some in warthog. Second playthrough: score attack off, ten miners, none in warthog.

I'm not a fan of posting others' guides (then again this is the first time I post a solution), but after noticing that the only other solution for this achievement can result in frustrating trial and error, I had to share this. With this method by Life Expectancy, I managed to have 15 miners by the time I entered the elevator and could afford to have many of them die with no consequence to my achievement.

To add to what Life Expectancy does in the video, I found that a good way to get two miners in your Warthog(which he had trouble with) was to simply command your Spartans to go somewhere far away. The miners follow you around, but they do not follow your orders, so while the Spartans are away, you can get the miners to cooperate without the Spartans getting in the way.

Another thing: Try to rush the Phaetons while leaving the miners behind as far as possible, for obvious reasons. After crossing the bridge, particularly, you can go around to your right and wait for all of them to follow you to be kept safe. Once done, you can peek out and shoot that spot's Phaeton from a safe place. If the miners go out into the wild again, just rinse and repeat.

EDIT: I was playing through the level again, going for the skull, and decided to take this screenshot. This was on an Easy playthrough, but the point is to give you a visual of the large number of miners you can save. If you're like me, you probably didn't know you could save so many at first.

No miners can be saved on Heroic difficulty.

DolphinChic03Did this solo and this method does work when I did this few months ago.. u just have to trick the miners into the warthog with the Spartans either far away or purposely knocked out/busy reviving, if u drove slowly to have them catch up & were able to get both warthogs into the elevator then that's better, vehicles just tend to disappear if u move too quickly ahead coz of the loading points.

Problem with co-op is more enemies would appear. If you're still having issues, watch some of the speed run videos at https://haloruns.com/records?lb=0805 coz they have all the enemy spawn points memorized to prevent too many miners dying

Gilbert PrimeThe first six minutes of the video are a complete waste of time. The moment after Locke orders Osiris to clear the area, the two miners that you tried so hard to take with you in the Warthog despawn. There's a reset that brings any late Spartans past the wall and removes the extra NPCs. I ignored the Phaetons in my successful run as well. Just make a hard save at the crashed Pelican and replay the skirmish until you get enough miners entering the elevator with you. Also there must be a random factor that spawns more miners. First attempt: 7 miners survived to enter the elevator (and 2 died inside). Second attempt: 4 miners. Third attempt: 17 miners! There was nothing substantially different in my tactics in all three tries.

Both of the above guides are great and helped me get all they way to the elevator (especially that part about killing the Phaetons) BUT I have one small addition.

Once I made it to the large door after the courtyard with the auto turrets from earlier, I had about 14 miners. I noticed that if I blitzed through the door and right to the elevator, many of them never made it inside, diminishing my numbers. The same thing happened at the large door to the elevator. All I had to do was stand near both doors and wait for as many miners to come through as possible and I had 12 for the elevator fight!

Just a little help if you notice you're saving a lot of miners and they aren't making it through.

    Happy hunting!

zZombieCatI would also like to add a very small tip, if doing solo in the very beginning have 2 Spartans get into the other warthog if you following the above guide's you will actually end up with 2 miners in yours warthogs, I managed to keep 12 miners alive and it was really easy.
