There are 2940 gems to collect in the first level, so you can get this part way through the second level if you are aiming to collect them all as you go.
This will not take as long as you think.

An easy way to get around is to hold cn_X and press the cn_LB to move upwards to where you want. Just remember you only get two balloons to place at any time.
