Like many other shoot 'em ups, you have to learn to shoot forward to your moving direction to kill the enemies running into you, if you keep shooting to your backside, you will lose health constantly and die.

If you are surrounded, shoot a hole somewhere and use that hole to escape.

When a wave begins, see where the biggest group of enemies is coming from. Head there, shoot them when they enter the playing area. Then shoot the second biggest group of enemies etc.

In one level, there is usually 3 waves of enemies.
Keep an eye on them, so that you are not near the wall when they enter. That is one of the most common mistakes, which leads to taking damage.

You need to use your bombs and special weapons effectively to kill large groups of enemies. One bomb may kill +50 enemies at once, if you just circle around them a bit.

You can only hold one pickup at a time and one special weapon too. You need to use them before collecting more. The effects of these pickups stack, so use one, then pick up the next, and use that too. Double effect.


First, some important things.

See the HOW TO PLAY -section in the main menu to see the pictures and names of every enemy and pickup.

You are not able to restore health in this game. You must pass all 15 waves with the 10 health blocks you have at the beginning.

Ideally, you need to be able to pass wave 10 with at least 6 health blocks remaining, the last waves are often too crowded with enemies to make the survival with minimal health possible.

Try to beat the first few waves without getting hit. If you get hit, just restart. It only takes a minute to get back there.

After every wave, you must choose between 2 challenges, that are like difficulty modifiers, these rules stack until the game is over. So if you have to pick a hard challenge early on, you are stuck having that for the rest of the game. That's why it is important to pick the easiest challenges possible. I will describe the challenges in this solution.

There are only 2 different enemy ship types before the boss that shoot harmful projectiles.

1. The interceptor, begins to appear from wave 2 onwards.
2. The battleship, a bigger purple ship begins to appear from wave 6 onwards.
3. The final boss shoots projectiles on wave 15, but you are able to counter them using the shield powerup, just hold cn_LT to catch the bullets and release to fire them back.

The blue grappler-enemy shoots bullets too, but they won't do damage, they only attach a rope on you, to make you slow down. Shoot the grappler to get released.

The point is, as long as you are able to avoid the fire from these enemies, you are only getting damage from direct contact with one of the other enemy ships.

My preferred loadout:

Weapon: accelerator
Modification: radiator

Why? With most of the other weapons, you have to be very close to be effective with them. The accelerator is both effective and accurate long range weapon, it's also important to be able to kill the orange snakes as soon as possible, as they will block your route and this means damage to your ship.

Choose the radiator to make the overheat go away faster. This will help in tight spots.


I'm going to rank the superweapons from the best to the worst.

1. Super torpedo
This weapon is a true lifesaver. Try to get the enemies to the center, then press and hold cn_LT and then release for huge damage. 3 charges.
2. Super bomb
Very effective, but only 1 charge. Try to use this when surrounded.
3. Super shockgun
This is a good weapon to get rid of unwanted ships closing on you. Use this preferably against the purple ships. 5 charges.
4. Super missiles
This is a rather disappointing weapon, but still decent in a tight spot. Press cn_LT to aim, then release to launch a barrage of missiles.


1. Emergency shield
This is one of the most important powers when trying to beat this game on hard-difficulty. Save it for moments when you are about to get hit, then activate it and be saved by it. If a stage is almost complete, save it for the next stage.
2. Slow time
This is a useful pickup, activate it in a pinch and shoot the closest ships trying to kill you.
3. Heat level reducer
A good pickup, use it when you are about to overheat, then you are free to fire without overheating for a while.
4. Multiplier
This is useless, use it as soon as you pick it up, it's the triangle pickup, it only affects your score.

The challenges

Try to pick the least challenging things after each wave. These are randomized, so sometimes you have to pick a bad option, there is luck involved.

small threat or no threat:

One of the ships flies a bit faster. Not a problem.
Static charge
You are not meant to get hit by drones, the most basic enemy-type. If you constantly get hit by them, you have not practised enough.
The ship speed doesn't matter that much, you are still able to play it just fine.
Wire fence
You don't need to hug the walls anyway. It is dangerous, you sometimes get hit this way by the incoming ships or asteroids.
The constant pickups aren't everything in this game. Sure they help, but there are worse to pick than this.
Mega magazine
The interceptors are weak enemies, and you shouldn't let them fire at you anyway.
Final gift
Just shoot them from afar, you will be fine.
This only affects the score, so it's harmless. You will see how it works on the video. My multiplier drops from +600 to about 400 in a few minutes.
I've never had any problems with this.
The big blue battleship shits out these pickups from their mechanical butts. Just avoid them, they won't do any damage, they just disable you weapons for about 2 seconds.

Medium threat:

Heavy traffic
These are annoying, because you won't know when they will hit. Sometimes you won't have enough space to dodge them.
The basic orange enemies will get faster. There are lots of them, so you would rather keep them on the slow-mode.
Scorched earth
This isn't fun at all. The weapon carrier ship drops carpet bombs constantly, and it's not good.
You will need to learn the pattern of these bombers. If you are close to the wall, they are not able to target you. Just shoot them from far away.
The weapon carrier will get protected by 3 shielders. You will need those weapons to be easy to collect.
The grapplers get more annoying with this. Their bullets make you attached to them on a rope, shoot them fast before they are able to damage you.
The orange bombers are able to get closer to you before they blow up. Shoot them from far away.
The grapplers are partially invisible, but they won't be able to shoot without revealing themselves.

High threat (dangerous to choose)

Omega bomb
Don't ever choose this. You have to disable a huge bomb every 10-15 seconds, otherwise it will damage you.
Bad weather
The worst of the worst. An EMP field will disable your weapons. And you have to survive without them for a few seconds.
Theft protection
Every time you destroy the superweapon carrier, it will leave a huge orange bomb-cloud on the playing area making your life harder.
No, you don't want the cruisers to have shielders. They are super annoying. You can't even destroy them straight away once they enter the play area, you have to shoot the shielder first.
Short fuse
Whenever your ship overloads, it will drop a carpet bomb for you to dodge. This will make the bomb blow up even faster.
Beam sweep
Not good at all. This will make the battleships very dangerous. The attack will sweep a large area and it will also last longer.
