How to unlock the You'll Shoot Your Eye Out! achievement

    Actions
    For this achievement you must kill the commander of the tank and damage the viewfinder. When playing normally you should aim at tanks cupolas (the bump on top of a tanks turret) as this is where the commander and viewfinder are on MOST tanks. In addition you can use the methods below for better chances of critical damage to the commander/viewfinder:

    1.) Use tanks that shoot primarily HE/HESH/HEP rounds. Some good tanks for this method are:
    --Most artillery
    --KV-2 (and gun but the ZIS gun)
    --SU152 (152mm gun)
    --M4 Sherman (with 105mm)
    --T49 (especially the top package)
    --and low tiers: M2 medium, Cruizer IV, T18, any other tank with a Howizter gun

    2.) Use a rapid firing tank and a crew with the "Deadeye" skill. This skill increases the chance for critically damage components when NOT using HE/HESH/HEP rounds. This bonus is calculated per shot. Good tanks for this method are:
    --Pz. II C
    --T7 Combat Car
    --T1E6-X(1)
    --Any tank with a fast fire rate

    JodmeisterGot this last night with the Matilda pummelling the cupola of a Churchill. Having a gun that can pen without causing too much tank damage and hit often in the right place seems to be key.

    Shadow 00 FoxOh, forgot to say when I got mine--it was last week, looking down at a BT-7 in my T5 M4 Sherman, I pretty much blew it to smithereens... I killed the Commander and Driver I think, and damaged the Turret, Gun, Viewport, and something else. lol

    Assassin BeanJust snagged this in a Tier IX Jagdtiger (TD). A Tier IX Conqueror (Heavy) was trying to hide behind a mound so it gave me an easy shot to his cupula. One HE round directly to it (the resulting hole was perfectly centered on the cupola itself) popped the achievement instantly. In the stats after the match I had only damaged the viewfinder but killed the commander, so the exact text of the achievement is correct.

    Ok i found a way to boost this achievement.

    You need:
    - L.Traktor ( tier I german )
    - package: Leichttraktor III ( rapid fire gun )
    - at least 1 friend with a L.Traktor

    You will search at the same time and hope that your friend is on the opposing team. Then you meet at a spot where you are alone so that no other tankers disturb you. Then aim at his viewfinder ( this little zylindric thing on top of his turret ) after your friend told you that you have destroyed it, you can shoot at his commander ( he is in the top of the turret, shoot at the back of his turret to easily kill him ) to be sure that you get the achievement destroy his tank and you will instantly unlock it.

    Note:
    you can train the shooting part with your friends in proving grounds.

    Don't give up if you don't find your friend, the chances are better when there are a low number of players on the server ( try one of the other servers or try at a different day time )

    Just wanted to add how I just unlocked this achievement.

    I was literally using the first Tier 1 French Artillery Tank (the one that looks like it belongs on a WW1 battlefield and difficult to control/slow) I dropped an Artillery shell right on top of a stationary enemy. (When in view mode, hold Right Thumbstick to get a closer/direct angle camera view)

    BOOM! Achievement unlocked

    I will say there’s a bit of luck and dedication that goes into getting this achievement.
