    SOLUTION FOR POST-F2P UPDATE

So now that Rocket League has gone free-to-play, the way items are collected is different than the system that the posters of these others solutions experienced. Now you can only really earn items from drops, which are earned from challenges and the Rocket Pass. This can take awhile especially if you don't want to spend money.

However I discovered today that if you trade with another player, the items you receive from them count as "collecting" progress (not blueprints, though). This makes this grind extremely quick to boost, as you can just trade a bunch of items back and forth with another player.

Only thing I should note is that a couple weeks ago when I tried trading, it gave me an error saying that we needed to spend money in the store before unlocking the ability to trade. IDK what that was about because I haven't spent any money, but we are suddenly allowed to trade.

As specified by A Batwoman in the comments of another guide, items are now attained through challenges.

Challenges are accessible via cn_RB when in the main menu. Once you have completed a challenge you need to go and manually claim it. Unsurprisingly, these are claimed by selecting the Claim button.

UPDATE: You can get some with seasons now. But that is only 3 for each of 4 stages (so 12) over a 77 day period. About 1 a week so about the same rate as the weekly challenges. For me, in the F2P era we are now in, the quickest way to get items is Tournaments. Build up your Tournament Credits by playing in Tournaments (obvious, right?) via PLAY then TOURNAMENTS then the SCHEDULE tab. The further you get the more credits. Best 3 results that week means even more credits. Buy items from the REWARDS tab. It is a random item but if you don't care what you receive then it doesn't matter. As specified in the comments, you can trade to increase the number of items ever owned but only if you either played before F2P or you have bought credits.

FIXED: Strangely, the challenges interface is a little weird and even is a bit glitchy. Sometimes in some menus you can't select individual challenges. If that happens then back out one level and go in again. Also note, on the first page you need to go down to the challenges using cn_RS.

200 seems like it will take a while. I haven't even got this yet:

SoundgoodizerI'm about to make my own solution but I figured I would let you know. I just discovered that when you trade with a player, when you receive items from them, those count towards progress as "collecting" them. So I was able to grind this out fairly quickly with a friend by trading back and forth. (Blueprints don't count as items)

Gary VargaThanks Soundgoodizer but I can't trade as I haven't, and will not, buy credits.

As of Season 3 (2021), there are 5 ways to unlock items in the game. However, unlike with previous guides, you cannot unlock this achievement by playing Exhibition mode (you can now only unlock a few items without ever going online). As a side note, this achievement will probably be one of the last that you unlock.

There are 5 ways to unlock items:

    1. Challenges: When you start the game for the first time, you will be able to unlock a small number of items for completing the New Player Challenges (these can be done offline). Beyond these, you will get new challenges every season which you must complete online. Most of these give you XP rewards which go towards your Rocket Pass rank, but some of them reward you with random item drops.

    2. Rocket Pass - This is by far the quickest and easiet way of unlocking a lot of items, but there is a catch. You can play the game for free and unlock random drops everything few levels, however, if you buy 1000 credits and pay for the Premium Pass, you will unlock an item at nearly every single level (up to 100) on top of the free rewards.

    3. Online Post-Game Drops - After every few online matchmade games (not private matches), you will receive a random item (usually a blueprint). This method works well alongside levelling up your Rocket Pass rank.

    4. Item Shop - The Item Shop usually has 7 or 8 items on sale for credits (cheapest item is usually 100 credits). There are usually bundles of items that you can buy and, on rare occasions, you can gain free items as part of events/promotions.

    5. Psyonix Scheduled-Tournament Rewards: Psyonix host tournaments every few hours which everyone can join regardless of rank, experience or party size. When you play in this mode, you earn a new type of currency that can unlock items from a much smaller pool of items. If you win 1 game, you will earn about 1500 tournament credits, which you can use to unlock 1 reward. The more games you win, you more credits you earn. If you reach Gold rank in Competitive, you can unlock items from the Gold Cup pool for 4000 tournament credits.

    Extra Method - Trade Boosting

For those of you who don't what to play the game for longer than you have to, you can boost this achievement with another friend. However, due to the trade restrictions that Psyonix introduced to combat against scammers and bots, you must met some requirements before you can trade (including purchasing at least 500 credits, being rank 30 and having at least 50 minutes of online play).

Simply pick a bunch of items from your inventory and trade with your friend. Have them trade those items back. Whenever you receive items (even those that you just traded), the game recognises these as new, meaning that you can simply trade the same 10 items over and over until you reach 200.

Dr MartyThere is a daily trading cap in place. My buddy and I were barred from trading after 60 items. It said we have to wait till the next day.

There are a couple things I have not seen in the other guides; I'll try my best to add everything in this guide and if I miss any let me know as other need to obtain these as well.

    1. Codes
Every once in a while, codes will be added to redeem for rewards, there is currently only one available: popcorn to redeem codes from the title screen: Settings>Extras>Redeem Code

    2. Events
Every month or two events will be available for a limited time, they contain xp and most of the time rewards. The requirements for rewards vary but most of the time they are simple goals such as getting certain starting position's or getting goals.

    3. Item Shop
Sometimes there are free rewards to claim from the item shop for holidays or celebrations, you could also spend real money for items if you really wanted to.

    4. Challenges
When you start the game, you'll get beginner challenges that reward you with about 8 items, after completing those you start getting weekly challenges that give you xp and a special drop (lootbox).

    5. Rocket Pass
You could get up to 30 items for free just by grinding the rocket pass, buying it gives you about 80 items, about triple the rewards.

    6. Rocket Racing
This is how I personally unlocked the achievement; you'll just need Fortnite and the same epic games account that is linked to rocket league. Most of the time there are quests that give you items that sync to your inventory across both games. Plus if you have any V-Bucks you could buy the trails from the item shop as they unlock 14 items each as long as you don't own them already.
