Hordes are large groups of zombies (5-20) that travel along the streets. They can be spotted through survey activities or when exploring the world.
That's how they look like on your map:
The easiest way to destroy them is with a vehicle or by using firearms and explosives. Make sure to hit every zombie of the horde until you get a notification “Horde destroyed”
on the top right of your screen. Since outposts can destroy hordes as well it’s better to do this with none or only a few outposts set up because hordes getting killed by outpost traps don't count
Hordes can be found in the base game, in the Breakdown add-on and in the Lifeline add-on. On higher Breakdown levels hordes show up more frequently.
If we manage to kill 500k hordes together by the end of March we'll be rewarded with a fuel supply drop, delivered via the Radio Menu.
Since this is a community challenge our progress isn't tracked on the achievement app but usually the developers give us an update on our kill count several times during the challenge month on the official undeadlabs forum. The challenge will unlock in the first week of April if the global goal (500k hordes) was reached and if you met the minimum requirements (you killed one / a few hordes on your own whilst being connected to Xbox Live).
