Lothric, Younger PrinceGetting to Lothric. After your journey through the High Wall of Lothric, where you will defeat Dragonslayor Armour, you will gain access to the Grand Archives. Be sure to light the bonfire prior to the doors of the Grand Archives for easier access to the castle later on, unless you are doing a no-bonfire run. There is a body
infront of the Grand Archives door, which will
only hold a key if you defeat 3 other
Lords of Cinder, Abyss Watchers, Aldrich Devourer of Gods, and Yhorm the Giant. Use this key to open the Grand Archives. You must head to the top of the Grand Archives. A more detailed description of where to go can be found in the Dark Souls III walkthrough. When you reach the top of the Grand Archives you are greeted with an incredible, intimidating walk toward the castle. Personally, I bolted up the sets of stairs all the way to the top, avoiding any strikes from any enemy.
When you get to the doors of the castle, look right and there will be an elevator, use this as a shortcut between the bonfire and the castle.
Pre-FightEnsure you have maximum health, your journey here may have given you a tough time where you have lost a considerable amount of health, Simply use the elevator mentioned above to go to the bonfire, then use the same elevator to come back, avoiding all enemies in the process. I highly recommend using the Co-op system in this game for this boss, it can be done solo as can every boss. But with a 2nd phase that hits very hard, an extra person can be the difference between 1 attempt and 100. (I learned the hard way). Regardless if you're going solo or have a partner, good luck. Have a clear head, and study the area as you fight.
Lorian weakness: Lightning/Frost/Magic.
Lothric Weakness: Physical.
First Phase This first phase will keep you on your toes, especially seeing as you're by yourself. You will be fighting Lorian, Elder Prince by himself. Keep your distance and learn the moves he uses.
He will use his sweep attack quite generously here, so time it well and get used to that move. He will also teleport, some times mid-move, so keep a steady eye on when to
roll . Rolling as he is teleporting will most likely save you. The best roll to perform is toward him as he sweeps, as you will just miss his sword. But he may also be performing his slam attack, where his sword goes up, then slams to the floor. Using your roll to go left or right is best here. The goal is to identify what one of these 2 moves he will use as he teleports.
The time to strike him is instantly after one of his moves, be careful and patient. If you have a partner, have them gain his attention to trigger one of these moves whilst you attack his back. If you're going solo, use this same tactic but perform both roles; let him use a move, dodge, then instantly strike with 2 or 3 hits.
Second PhaseThe second and final phase introduces Lothric, the named achievement Lord of Cinder. This phase includes all the fun attacks of the first phase as Lorian is still active - however now Lothric is on his back, who will perform numerous magic spells.
Magic Homing Arrow - This move is where he Lothric will fire a golden sorcery, which can be identified by a 'charging' like build up, for this move you need to time you dodge/roll and perform is right before it hits you- risky I know, but the charge type stance will give you good time to prepare.
Magic Homing Projectiles - Multiple tiny projectiles will shoot toward you, in a collection of spears, shooting from a floating golden source. Lothric, shoots a large floating golden source into the air- this is when you know this move is coming. After the large source is shot up, numerous spears will fire. Simply roll through each spear until there are no more from the source.
Revival- This is your time to shine, after all the dodging and rolling, this is where you hammer home the offence. Lorian will collapse after you attack him, bringing lothic to the floor, open to attack. He will do a short animation where he rises up his staff and another golden source beams bright, damaging your health if you're too close, and also reviving Lorian. You need to attack Lothric before he raises his staff, as much as you can. He is weak to physical attacks so being close is really the only advice, other than being aware of his damaging staff which you should run from when it rises.
Lorian will be revived, and lothric will have a shorter amount of health- just repeat the tactic of attacking Lorian until he collapses, and then attacking lothric-whilst mainly dodging the numerous attacks from both.
