After completing all 40 levels for the first time, you unlock the ability to turn on Gauntlet Mode. Gauntlet Mode is a 99 lives variant of the game. Here are the basic notes:

- All Levels - You start at Level 1 and have to play through all 40. If you quit during the run, you can continue from where you leave off as long as you don't disable Gauntlet Mode. Turning it off and back on will restore you to 99 lives and go back to Level 1.
- 99 Lives - Every death removes one. When you run out, you are brought to a game over screen and need to restart.
- Hard Mode - The game defaults to Hard Mode for this. You can't change it down to Normal. What is hard mode (if for some reason you haven't touched it to this point)? If you hit a colored square with your gear not in that color, you will take damage. If you've only played the game on Normal, this can be a really difficult portion to get used to. As a result, consider playing through to get all your S-ranks and at least beating the levels on Hard before proceeding (since getting most S-ranks requires Hard, and sometimes Insane, to unlock).

So how hard is this achievement? Tough to say. It's doable, but there's a lot of tips that can make it simpler:

1) Take the easiest paths. A lot of the worlds, taking the bronze cog paths limits your exposure to danger and shortens the levels by a wide margin. It's not true of all them however. Some levels have the timed paths or key paths that give additional checkpoints or quicker exits. Knowing when these occur can make the run a lot easier.

2) Worlds 1 and 2 (Levels 1-20) should take you less than 20 deaths total. My successful run actually had less than 10 deaths in them. The less you can die here the better.World 1 especially should be only 1 or 2.

3) Be willing to restart a level if you take a bad path or miss or timed path. Sometimes those are more important to success. On Level 40, there is a timed path that gives a checkpoint closer to one of the tightest maneuvers in the game. Making sure to hit that checkpoint became more important.

4) Play each level in Hard mode at least once. Especially in World 4. If you've been playing on Normal and then worried about S-ranks, you might not have played some levels on Hard ever. Levels 39 and 40 in particular, I had an S-rank through normal play originally. Knowing the timing of switching colors and getting used to it can be a real pain at first in Hard Mode.

5) A full run is less than an hour. My final time was about 50 minutes. It could be a little longer or shorter depending on your skill level. I had almost 50 lives remaining when I got it done (it was a real good run).

Video below is from my stream of the run.
