There may be a better option for this, but I just picked this achievement up on stage 8-3 under the medal challenges.

In case it's unclear, the achievement has to be done on a stage where there are gray and beige spaces. As you make matches on these spaces they change color from gray (steel) -> beige (wood) -> blue.

Your goal is to turn all the beige (wood) spaces blue before turning any of the gray (steel) spaces beige, meaning simply, if it's grey, just stay away from it.

This stage is useful because there are only nine grey spaces and they are at the bottom of the board and, as such, easier to avoid.

For power ups, I used Submarine controls, which turns some pieces into compasses, as my active (it's the power up on the bottom right), and Ancient Mechanism, which gives more time on the level, as my passive (it's the first power up in the second row). Honestly, you can probably use any passive, but I'd advise against those which give you more Tesla charge or otherwise summon lightning. If the lightning turns the steel pieces, the attempt will fail, so we want that not to be an issue.

Take your time with the level. Since the achievement pops as soon as all the beige pieces are blue, there's no need to worry about earning the medal. This is why ancient mechanism is helpful - it pretty much entirely removes time stress.

The reason why I choose Submarine Controls is twofold:

1) Creating compasses will allow you to match pieces that don't otherwise match, so you'll have more flexibility.

and

2) You want to avoid the lightning strikes that occur every time you make five consecutive matches that turn tiles by making a short match on tiles that are already blue. The extra compasses will make that much easier in the early parts of the stage.

It may take a couple tries, but it's not too hard to do. Good luck, and if you have any comments or corrections, please post in the comments. :)
