This one is somewhat luck based, but there are
three basic strategies that can make getting it a LOT easier. I've made a video covering these strategies and showing the setup I used on King's Row to get this.
Although I haven't tried Totoomi's method on Ilios, Lighthouse, it definitely falls into the first of three categories for unlocking this one!
Here's a basic text version of the three strategies for those who can't watch the video:
1) Lay in wait. Basically you need find a high traffic doorway or small room that enemies are likely to come through (rooms with a big health pack or flanking possibilities are best). Lay your concussion mine against the wall and trap a few feet in front of that on the ground. Wait in the room for someone to come through the doorway and then detonate the mine, knocking them into the trap. If need be, you can harass the enemy team by firing at them to draw someone into the room.
2) Throw your trap down in front of an enemy and then throw/detonate your mine behind them. This technique is a bit more difficult as it requires fast and relatively accurate trap and mine use. This strategy also requires the enemy to be right in front of you which means they'll be trying to kill you. Simply throw the trap at your feet (just in front of them) and then immediately toss your mine behind them and detonate when it's at their back. This should send them flying into the trap.
3) This final strategy is to place a trap just a few feet outside the door of an enemy spawn room when you're on the defending team. You then place a mine at the foot of the door and as soon as the match starts and an enemy walks out you detonate the mine and knock them into the trap. This is my least favorite approach for several reasons. First, when you get to a higher level many players will actively see/avoid Junkrat setups at their spawn. Second, you can't control which exit the enemy players will come out of so your entire setup might not even work. Third, you will very likely get killed waiting by the enemy spawn which leaves your team a player short right off the bat.
I highly recommend using the first two strategies, but many people have also had success using the third approach.
*NOTE* Some players have mentioned that the achievement didn't pop even when they knocked an enemy into the trap with the mine. It might be that the enemy actually needs to die upon getting knocked into the trap for this to unlock. When I got the achievement they were killed instantly so I can't say one way or another whether they must die or simply be knocked into the trap. If you don't get it the first try, just stick with it. Junkrat is actually pretty fun to play, especially now that he has two concussion mines!
Using these strategies you should be able to unlock:
The Mine Like a Steel Trap achievement in Overwatch 2 worth 33 pointsKnock an enemy into your Steel Trap using Junkrat's Concussion Mine in Quick or Competitive Play. If my video or text guide helped you, please give it a thumbs up and comment below which strategy you used. If you downvote, please state why so I can improve the solution.
Good luck and happy hunting! :)
