After each completed chapter in Story Mode, you'll receive a rank. The level of your rank will be based on things you've done in the battle. If you look at the little board that shows up after a completed chapter, you'll see a list of things either white or faded out. The more of these battle requirements completed, the closer you are to completing the chapter with a Z rank.

Here's a list of all of battle requirements you should attempt to fulfill during any battle to obtain a Z rank.

- Attack First
+ Simply land the first strike in battle. It doesn't count if your opponent blocks; you must land the first real strike. This can also be done with a Ki Blast ("B" Button)

- Perform a Super Attack
+ Use one of your super attacks with either (-> + B) or (<- + B). I don't know if you have actually hit your opponent or simply use it to fill this requirement.

- Perform an Ultimate Attack
+ Use your ultimate attack ([Up] + B). I don't know if you have actually hit your opponent or simply use it to fill this requirement.

- Dodge an Attack
+ You have to time your block so that when they strike at you, you press block ("A" button) at the same time so that you move out of the way of the attack.

- Perform a Vanish Attack
+ Despite its name, this is done with the attack known before as Dragon Rush. To do this, you have to go into Aura Spark mode (Left Bumper) and then knock your opponent away. After knocking them away, press (Left Trigger) to initiate. I don't know if you have to win the Dragon Rush or not to fulfill this requirement. [Note: I think that the preset allows you to hit the (Left Trigger) while in Aura Spark mode to knock away and go into Dragon Rush. At least it is for me.]

- Perform a Pursuit Attack
+ To do this, you have to knock your opponent away [I prefer ([Up] + Y)]. After knocking them away, press (Right Trigger) to initiate. You can keep tapping the (Right Trigger) to do extra pursuits.

- Perform a Ready Stance or Attack Stance
+ You either have to press (-> + A) or (<- + A) while your opponent is about to hit you to block the hit by appearing behind him.

- Perform a Heavy Smash
+ Hit your opponent with ([Right Trigger] + Y) to do a Heavy Smash.

- Finish match with Ultimate Finish
+ This is misleading. To fulfill this requirement, you must be transformed ([Right Bumper] if applicable), Aura Sparked ([Left Bumper]) and finish your opponent with an Ultimate Attack ([Up] + B). [Note: When transforming, you'll lose all of your Ki bar and when going to Aura Spark, you have a little time before the Ki bar starts to drop. This is important because an Ultimate Attack requires a full Ki bar.]
+ Also, if you've never done this before, you'll unlock the "Unleashed Ki Win!" achievement.

- Win in less than 90 seconds
+ Finish your opponent in 90 seconds.

You must also have the difficulty set to Normal for this achievement to unlock.
