In order to unlock this achievement you have to defeat the secret boss that can be found by releasing the Monster Mask prisoner in the Mansion of Puppets. This prison is located in the basement, and Monster Mask has the red glow about his cell. One prison key can be purchased from Velez. You will also receive a prison key when you clear through the Mansion of Puppets basement and find a path leading back to the main room. The others are hidden throughout the game, and the methods to acquire them can be found elsewhere. Once he is free and you've found and spoken with him in the Arcane Core, he will open the way to fight him.

I was level 15 when I beat him. As there's not much information on how people fought him out there, I figured I would post what I did. This fight is one of the most tedious fights in the game, and there are a few ways of going about completing it. All of which likely involve copious amounts of dodging.

You can go toe to toe with with the boss in melee but he has a lot of HP and spending minutes of fighting him and then losing due to the inevitable cheese-mode the bosses get into when low on life just wasn't fun to me. So, I wound up using only the Bearer of Calamities, and only her Energy Cutter attack, and tons of dodging. This is her fastest (and best) magic attack imo, and is readily capable of staggering the secret boss and knocking him out of his jump attack. Her Arcane Summon attack was not as effective in my experience, as even if you're able to get the cast off without getting hit, the boss is able to avoid it completely sometimes.

Regardless of if you opt to stack magic and use energy cutter, you will want a full complement of support items when you get there, especially the War Anima and Defense Anima items. You want to save those two for the end of the fight.

Since I was only using magic attacks, I stacked that to 250 with the Angelus (this is a weapon you get from freeing one of the prisoners, and requires you to play up until you can access the last dungeon to unlock), and the Pertho Staff (this is awarded for freeing all prisoners). My defense was 35/35 which I attained using the Raphael Ring (Health Regen) and Zemial Brooch. Depending on how you build your skill tree, you may wind up with different stats than those, but in a similar ballpark (both Angelus and Pertho grant +100 Magic each). You don't need that high of a Magic score, but as this is a chip and attrition fight it will definitely make it slightly faster.

Periodic applications of the anima and cores to boost your damage outputs will also help out. Most of the time, attempting to use either character's buffing abilities will just get you hit. Consuming these items via the pause menu is also better than using the d-pad to activate them.

The boss does not seem to have any real pattern to its attacks, with the exception of what he does during the last third of his bar. This portion of my guide is somewhat anecdotal and contains spoilers.

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

When the boss' HP drops below a third, which will take some time, its attack pattern will change. It will start using the attack where they summon orbs that surround you and you have to dodge them one by one more, and combo this with an attack similar to Ergo's Ultimate Barrage.

During this phase it will also use an attack similar to Rain of Darkness. This attack has a lot more spheres than Ergo's version, and is capable of chain juggling you into whatever other attacks he feels like spamming. Dodging is important. If you have a Defense Anima, this attack is greatly reduced. I think I was taking 8 damage per orb. I only ever saw it use these attacks once it was low on HP.

Once you drop him, the achievement should unlock immediately, and you'll get one of the most powerful weapons in the game for your effort. Hopefully this gives people a little more information to win this fight. Thanks.
