The quickest way of doing 500 missions at the moment (with passenger missions still left to be done) is by heading to Niu Hsing and going to the planetary base there. Accept all data missions to Col 285 Sector ..-. ..-.. (Lebedev Installation). Keep switching to Solo and Open in turns to get the 20 mission limit. Once reached, go to Lebedev Installation, hand them in and accept all data missions to Niu Hsing. Stack until you've got 20 again. Rinse and repeat.

You will get some Federal ranks here as well, needed for the Home, Sweet Home achievement.

Currently around the 50 mission mark, but I've found an interesting interaction (likely not the only of its kind, but still). If you travel to the Ngurii system (a mere 195.20 lightyears for me from Sol per the fastest route, for reference) somewhere between 70-80% of missions, mostly Boom Data Deliveries, require you to go to the HIP 52461 system. And 70-80% of the quests in HIP 52461 want you to travel to the Ngurii system. Why is this good? Take two jumps from Ngurii or HIP 52461, and you're at the other. The reason you get so many missions is because despite not being far far out, it's really still kinda the boonies, so to speak. So there isn't a ton around without heavy jumping, so rather than seven or eight close systems to give you missions for, it gives you missions for one. Which is pretty sick.

Beyond being absolutely great (if somewhat boring and sub-optimal), early game money if you can make it there (I made it there in even an Eagle, so you can do it too) it's a place a lot of players might have been to or heard of before, because one of the first five engineers wants you to go to this system to buy relics for her once you've unlocked her (she's the one wanting you to travel 300 lightyears from your starting position).

There's three space stations in Ngurii and two space / one planetside in HIP 52461, and between the three you can easily hit the 20 mission max between each run. Doesn't happen everytime, but it's nice when you can.

Some notes:
- Escape interdictions when they happen, don't bother with combat. I was enjoying superiority over the Cobras and Eagles until I got a Federal Dropship. Regretted that pretty quickly...
- I mentioned getting here in an Eagle. Wouldn't recommend it. There's a *lot* of dwarf stars close to the end of the route to Ngurii, and I had to take a lot of detours to actually find some scoopable stars to refuel on. You'll have a much easier time with a ship more suited for travelling (which, in all truth, could just be an Eagle with a good FSD and fuel tanks) and with some cargo space (few missions are cargo ones, so you could take more missions if you had the capacity). Cheranovsky City in Ngurii does have a spaceport, so you could easily upgrade your kit after a few missions. Fuel scooper is a must to get out there, though. But like I said, EAGLE. Had less than a 10 lightyear jump range...

This is a simple guide that doesn't require you to buy a new ship or require any fancy set ups.

Fly to a space station, any space station and ONLY accept missions within short distances(< 30LY):
Boom Data Delivery
Strategic Data Delivery
Passenger transport missions(if you do happen to have the capability)

These are quick, easy, (almost always) hassle free missions that require you to go to another space station or planetary outpost.

Travelling through Hyperspace only takes 1 minute to:
charge your FSD, do the jump, cooldown the FSD.

Most Space Stations are within 10,000LS of your arrival point, so will take, at most, 8 or 9 minutes to travel to.

THIS is the quickest way to complete 500 missions, and it still takes ages.
