  Doesn't seem to be mentioned so far, and it might just be my poor luck, but it would not unlock for me personally until the Android device was the host - tried several times on varying PCs and laptops unsuccessfully before hosting on a phone, and popped about 2s after the client picked the diamonds up...

  Thanks for this heads-up. I did this like 20 times and could never get it to pop.
  
  I suspect this and the iron golem achievement require you to be the host.

  To drop/throw on Pocket Edition hold the square of the item you want dropped and it will green outline. Once held long enough eventually your item will drop.
  
  I didn't actually buy 2 phones because of this achievement I just thought it would make an interesting video haha.
  
  Windows 10, iOS and Android can link together. Same Gamertag can also be used.

  Just in case it's not clear you go to Play > Friends then look for LAN games to join.

  I had a hard time setting this up using my Android phone and laptop so here is how I was able to get the achievement. I used the Andy Android Emulator on my laptop. I logged into my google account on the emulator to download Minecraft PE without having to pay for it again. Then I started a Minecraft game on my phone using my Gamertag as the host. Then on my laptop, I logged into a throwaway non-Gold Xbox account on Minecraft. Then on my phone I sent that throwaway account an invite to my game. The invite appeared on my laptop and I accepted it. The throwaway account joined and I was able to throw the diamonds at that player to pop the achievement.

  Download the "achievement v3" world.
  Achievement worlds
  
  Now there's plenty of chests with diamonds in there. Now join this world either with another device (android, win 10 or ios) or let a friend join your world. The last option does not always work. After that, hold your fingers on the diamonds (while you have them equipped), to throw them.
