Hommet Hears a Harpell - Hommet's quest

1. During your stay at the encampment, speak with Hommet. From the conversation you will learn, that he has received a strange message, which, according to him, is worth checking. In order to do so, go to the library in the Market District (it can be found near the blacksmith, Book Cache). In the library there will be an NPC called Dagatha. After talking with the woman, you will learn that there's a book of Ashen Priest, hidden in certain catacombs and your task is to retrieve the item. Head outside the city via the nearest exit and set your destination to the Tomb of the Ashen Priest.

2. The catacombs are filled with numerous traps, so you should tread carefully, with the Search ability activated at all times. In order to get to the Tomb of the Ashen Priest, you must collect three torn pages from his book, which contain verses required to open the secret doors. After collecting all the pages head towards the stone altar and ask Hommet to chant the proper password combination. After a short conversation with the Ashen Priest, head towards his tomb. Kill the skeletons along the way and enter the main hall, where the Ashen Priest will be waiting for your party.

3. Ashen Priest will try to recruit Hommet as his disciple. Do not let that to happen by selecting denying dialogue options during the conversation. As soon as Hommet comes to the conclusion that the whole ordeal is not worth it, the encounter with the demon will begin. Ashen Priest isn't the toughest enemy in the game, but remember about his immunity to necrotic damage and complete immunity to fire.

4. After the combat ends, pick up the Staff of Eternal Torment from the body of the dead priest and go back to Dagatha in the Market District. During the conversation with the woman you will learn, that Hommet belongs to the Harpell family, and Dagatha is his relative. Afterwards, the quest will end.

The steps and everything is on point from FireRaiser, however, the Ashen Priest is by no means an easy opponent! He can shoot you through walls and even 2 rooms away he will still hit you if he had a lock on you! Even worse, you can´t disrupt his spells and he will teleport right after a few seconds you get into melee. To make things worse, he will spawn every now and then skeletons and fire scimitars (floating fire swords).

So the most successful approach would be to have at least a healer with you, 2 prefered (battle healer). A mage might come in handy, although he is nearly immune to fire and necrotic (like the guide mentions). Make sure to have the maximum defense against magic/fire on ALL your characters, the lichs attacks pack quite some punch!

As soon as the fight starts, run away at least 3-4 rooms back towards the start and let the skeletons/scimatars follow you. The lich will stay patiently in his room and wait for you to get closer again. Get rid of all the creeps, return to the lich (don´t forget to heal up!!) and rinse repeat. Make sure to make a run for it when things look bad, but remember he will hit you at least once while running away, most likely taking 50% of your health in the process.
I might be over exagerating, but until this fight, not a single enemy was as punishing and challenging as this one in my oppinion!
