"Survival" mode does not mean you can't die. You can fail as much as you want and still beat each level individually. It just means that you are timed and score does not matter. This means that you must ONLY focus on objectives; getting gold is not necessary for the achievement.

Tips:

1. ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR ENERGY. Always be ready to rush away from an objective or enemies to recover your energy. If enemies surround you at an energy pad, move to a new one because either you won't be able to recover your energy or you will just die.

2. As I said before, don't go for score, silver, or golds; just complete your objectives before time runs out.

3. If you see the infinite energy powerup (purple icon), use it. You should be able to find it somewhere on the map 2 or 3 times (usually 2), but use it wisely. Try to use it on the hardest objectives to destroy so you can save time.

4. I recommend using Tornado and finding level 2 or 3 tornado powerups. Tornado doesn't always work, but it seems to work on more than the other power ups.

5. When battling K.R.I.S.S (The second boss) form a tornado to pull in some bombs and then just start letting kriss pull you in. As you get close, hit "B" to get out of tornado and hopefully the bombs hit kriss. Don't let it suck you all the way in or you will die. This method is what got me gold on normal mode as well.

6. Don't give up. This game doesn't take a ton of perseverance, but some levels can be frustrating either due to dying or time running out. This means you aren't managing your time well or paying attention to your energy.

Overall this is a pretty quick playthrough even if you do struggle at some points, but if you don't struggle you will breeze through this quickly. When I did this playthrough, I hadn't played the game in 4 years and I was able to pick it up and run through it. Good luck.
