How to unlock the Spring Cleaning achievement

EDIT 1-5-2023: I'm being told that this solution can no longer be used to get object clears due to the cloud save functionality being disabled. The game only saves progress locally now and deleting the game will cause your save to be deleted. It'll need to be done the intentional way of unlocking new areas to get more objects to clear.

While Chris8875's guide is perfect for getting this game done without having to wait on time gates, it's not quite as helpful for this particular achievement. The problem is running out of objects to clear until purchasing another area, which could take quite a bit of time.

I used the energy refill trick for just about everything in this game. As a matter of fact, there's a few steps in Chris8875's guide I didn't have to do, such as go into airplane mode. I just switched my time back and forth by 3 hours and when I went back into the game, my energy was topped off. Whichever way you do it, make sure you can do this trick because you'll still need the energy to clear the objects.

Now the trick I used for getting the counter for the achievement to go up is similar to how people used save tricks on Xbox One games. Since the counter only goes up, I figured there might be a way to clear objects and then reload a cloud save from before they were cleared and repeat until you get 1000. Turns out there is a way to do it, but it's a bit more annoying than it has to be. Apparently this game always loads your local save, which let's you load the game offline but will constantly update the cloud save for whenever you reinstall the game or install it on another device. By finding this out, I was able to clear objects and revert back to clear them again, all while the counter is still going up. Here's the steps to take.

    1. With the game not running, turn on airplane mode. Make sure you have no internet connection
    2. Load up the game. The game will still load but on your local save.
    3. Start clearing out any and all objects you can. Use the time trick to refill energy if needed. The more objects you have available to clear, the faster you will get 1000.
    4. Now exit the game and uninstall it. Turn airplane mode off.
    5. Go into the app store and redownload the game.
    6. Once it's finished download, open the game. You'll notice all the objects you cleared before are still intact.
    7. Go into the Xbox app and check your achievements for this game. The percentage counter should have gone up.
    8. Repeat until 100%

This will save you a lot of time having to go buy a bunch of new territory for more objects to clear. Also, if you want an easier time seeing the objects, hit the settings button on the bottom right and clear the button that looks like a house. The objects should appear as small grey squares.

EDIT 1/21/2019: I've been hearing reports that the tracking for this achievement is somewhat off and may or may not update the tracker each time this is performed. This could mean that eventually this method will not work as intended, if at all.

EDIT #2 5/13/2020: Reports of free in game currency being handed out to everyone who plays the game. 20 million in game dollars. This should definitely help with this achievement.

SwearySeanIf you uninstall the game now, you lose EVERYTHING. It does keep the achievement progress of course, but I've now lost the 20 mill and have to start the game from scratch.

ULTRAxNAPAThis method no longer works because when you uninstall the game now your save file is also gone forcing you to start the game from the beginning (Chapter 1) each time you uninstall the game. Since the online was shut down I can confirm that your save is no longer saved to the cloud. I installed on a separate PC and my data was NOT synced. The game started me from Chapter 1 again on the 2nd PC. Let's say you play until you have 3 territories unlocked and then used this method to clear out those 3 territories. When you install the game again and go to play. The game will start you from the beginning (Chapter 1).

I'm guessing someone will discover a method to boost this quickly through a glitch or internet connection, but here is the basic outline for this achievement legitimately.

There are plenty of bushes/trees/etc. scattered around the map of your territory. Each newly unlocked territory also has pieces in them. These pieces of plant life however do not increase the Ecology level of your town/country. If you click on these items, you will be given the option to clear it for some of your energy.

In the starting area, this is usually 2 energy. When first unlocking new zones (such as the beach), the removal cost could be much higher. The palm tree removal on the beach was 10 energy during the opening mission. Afterwards, the costs have become 2 energy per removal. Based on this, you would need roughly 2000 Energy to complete this task (roughly 80 bars worth of energy)

I've tried determining whether or not new removable items spawn in previously cleared areas, but it is inconclusive so far. If they do no respawn, you will need to spend a bit of time unlocking new zones to add to the removable obstacles.

If you are having a tough time determining what is a removable obstacle, go to the settings menu on the side bar (the gear looking button). Under this, click the House shape. This will turn all buildings and items on the screen to colored boxes. At this point, the gray boxes are clear-able objects.

If you wish to check your progress, you can go to the bottom menu with the ^ button and click the trophy. In that new menu, click the Achievements button and it will show your current progress on this achievement and all others.

NOTE/EDIT: I'm currently Level 11 and have unlocked numerous territories. Unfortunately, even with clearing every item possible, that has only gotten me to 21% of the achievement. Looking over the other solutions/guides, consider using the method from Death and Glory. It should help a ton.

I've had a few people ask me about how I did this. To clean items, it's going through and removing the rocks, trees, etc. for 2 energy each. What I ended up doing was unlocking 3 areas that had a lot of trees or palms (beach area) and then just spending the 2.99 for like 350 energy/coins. With all the energy banked, I used the micro manager boost of loading the game, killing internet, and then deleting out all the trees, rocks, etc. which I was averaging about 80 a round. Once I cleared the items, just uninstall, and rinse/repeat. Took about 12 times, but went quickly. Granted you can do this without spending money, it just saves time and if you use Bing rewards you likely have a $5 credit you can use in the game store.

SKIN RIPDoes this still work? My counter isn't increasing

VideogamequeenI can confirm that this still works as of May 2018. The Xbox app doesn't always reflect the accurate percentage and I believe I had a few times that the removal of items didn't count, but eventually the achievement popped. Thank you again.

Uggadunk^ yes, I have 120 things to remove, but only get 5-7% per run
