WARNING: In order to unlock Hard & Craaazy achievements for Boss
Hunt, you must complete the difficulty that comes before it for each individual Boss Hunt to even play on Hard or Craaazy
To get this achievement you must complete the Mystery Portal game mode Boss Hunt on Normal difficulty. Unfortunately the game mode is not always available to be played. To see when the next game mode for the Mystery Portal, keep an eye on
http://www.pvzgw2.com/events-calendar to see when it opens again.
You will want to group up with liked minded individuals that you can communicate with for the higher difficulties, doing it with randoms is only really feasible on Normal difficulty but can still be a challenge. To group up for this game mode, you must party up in the Backyard Battleground, you cannot do it in the game mode otherwise you will be paired up with randoms.
Plant Team StrategyYour Team setup should include at least 2 Sunflowers, the rest depends on the players.
Characters to avoid using are:-All Chompers: As a Chomper you have no long range capabilities (except Yeti Chomper but I'd still say avoid it) and with being up close you will take enormous amounts of damage, especially on higher difficulties.
-Most Cactus characters should be avoided because when the boss has appeared you must be very mobile. Future Cactus and Bandit Cactus if you are very good with them
-Single-shot characters (excluding Peashooters): Unless you are very good with them, it is best to go for their full auto version to not get overwhelmed by the smaller enemies.
-Party variants should be avoided unless you are very skilled with and have upgrades that make them better. Too weak statistically on their own.
Character Suggestions:Sunflower: -Vampire: Using this variant and with having the Elite rank level 5's Vampiric upgrade you will be practically immortal as long as you keep firing at the boss. Using this variant you could swap in Dark Flower instead of Heal Flower to have another mini-fighter helping along
Stuffy: Every time you kill an enemy they will drop health for you or a teammate to pick up. Fire very fast, has 40 clip and surprisingly accurate.
Fire/Power: Fire provides Damage over time while Power helps killing smaller enemies
Peashooter:Fire/Toxic: Provides excellent damage over time
Ice: Able to freeze enemies and slow the boss down a bit
Commando: Full auto firing can be very helpful
All Other Plants you can use any variant, but the elemental variants will be a lot more useful in the long run.
Sasquatch Boss Hunt*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***Now to start the Boss Hunt once you are on the map you must setup bait and this is where you will select your difficulty: Normal Mode, Hard Mode, and Craaazy Mode.
Once you have selected your difficulty you must protect the bait from enemies for about 4 waves. Best to have the team divided to cover both sides.
After all the enemies have been defeated, the boss will appear but regular enemies will still be coming around and you are given 25 minutes to defeat the boss before he flees (the boss will become enraged when you are amount to be out of time). Have a good balance of attacking the boss and defending yourself from regular enemies.
Once you have taken 1/4 off the health bar of the boss, he will temporarily retreat and you will have take out targets in a short time-limit, so it is best to split up into pairs with a healer on each pair. As each target is destroyed the time will be extended until all targets have been destroyed (they show up around the map in specific spots in predetermined order). Once all targets are destroyed a new challenge pops up with a time limit. You must raise a garden (similar to the Suburbination game mode aka keep zombies out), but unfortunately at the time of writing this it will not show you where it is, but it will be one of the garden locations found in Garden Ops for that map and you will have to look for a green circle around the spot. Once the garden is up it will project a shield and you must stay within til the time expires otherwise you will be insta-killed.
This challenge will occur once you reach 1/2 of the health bar of the boss with no changes. Once you reach 3/4, you will have to defeat some regular enemies and normal bosses before you can do the previous challenges again (failing the target challenge will not make you have to take on the reinforcements waves again). The bad news for failing the target challenge is the boss will regain 1/8 of his health back and you must redo the challenge again. Failing the garden challenge will wipe out your entire team, try to avoid that.
Yeti King (Ran from January 26, 2017 - January 29, 2017)
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***At the start of the match, you have to select a bait, without having beaten Normal or Hard, you will only have access to the Normal Difficulty bait. Once the bait has been set, it needs to be defended from a few waves of enemies that are ice oriented.
Once the bait has been defended, the Yeti King will appear and a 25 minute countdown to his Enrage mode (where you have a 1 minute & 30 seconds to defeat the boss while he hurls attacks and enemies at you non-stop). It is best to scatter from the bait in between the time you defeated all the enemies from defending and before the boss intro scene pop ups.
A while after the boss has shown up, he will start dancing and a curse will placed upon the players with a countdown timer in the top right. The objective is to destroy all snowman shaped popsicles before the countdown reaches 0 (destroy one gives extra time) until no more show up, which interrupts the Yeti King's dance and deploys his reinforcements. The team should split up into teams of two with one healer in each pair.
A little bit after the reinforcements show up, a Champion Imp, The King's Fool, will show up. You must defeat this enemy and it will drop a shake that can be used. The tankiest character should use the item. Upon use an aura will appear around the character and grant a damage boost to use against the boss as long as the players are in the ring. There will only about 20 seconds, so it is best to activate it close to the boss or make a break for it.
Rinse and Repeat until the boss is defeated.
Zombie Team StrategyYour team should consist of at least two Scientists, the two other characters are dependent on what they are best with.
Characters to avoid:
-Zoologist - has way too short of range to be useful
-Chemist - While very powerful, also has too short of range to be useful or becomes to risky.
-Pirates - same thing as Cactus since they are part sniper or need to be close with their Scattershot
-Tank Commander & Scuba Soldier- unless you have the reload upgrades, it will fire too slow to be useful
-Roadie Z - Need to be close up to be useful
-Party Variants should be passed over unless they are fairly leveled and have quite a few upgrades
Characters best to go for:
- Fire and Toxic variants will be helpful for damage over time for the best and some aoe depending on the variant.
-Electric variants are good for taking out groups of minions
-Ice Variants will freeze minions and slow down the boss.
Scientist tip: It's best to have the heal ball instead of the sticky explodey ball in this mode.
Spooky Squash Boss Hunt (ran fromOct 27 2016 - Oct 30 2016)
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***To start this boss hunt you must set up bait for the boss which is candy, this is also where you select your difficulty. You must defend it from a few waves of enemies, make good use of the turret spots around the area they will be a big help. On the final wave, a champion Torchwood will appear, as the enemies and the champion are defeated the boss spawns. It is best to leave the bait area because the boss has severe damaging fire attacks and is also invincible at the moment.
A bit after the boss spawns, two graveyards will spawn at the top of the building where the team will have to split up. One person must stay on each graveyard, while the remaining two will go after the Guardian. Regular enemies will still spawn while the Guardian is up. While you are fighting the Guardian make sure to lure the boss from your partners at the graveyards. Defeating the Guardian will spawn a bucket, be careful who picks it up because they won't have any abilities (aka a Scientist should be taking the bucket). a Champion will spawn and as soon it is defeated. Only the person that has the bucket should pick up the candy, if anyone else tries to pick up the candy, you will run out of time to do the objective and end up getting a team wipe. If the person that is holding the bucket dies, you will automatically fail the objective and get a team wipe as well.
After repeating this process for a bit, Sugar Rush mode will happen and you are free to engage the boss. While this mode is active you will be doing an enormous amount of damage. Don't forget to kill the little minions so they don't overwhelm you. You will have to do the objectives 2 - 3 times depending on how much damage you do during Sugar Rush Mode.

The Brothers Gnomus (ran from November 24 2016 - November 27 2016)
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***To start off this boss hunt, you must first select which contraption you want to use to bring in the boss, each type determines which difficulty you will do Boss Hunt in. Once the bait is set up, you will have to fight a few waves of Gnomes instead of Plants. They don't have anywhere near enough mobility as the playable characters, so use that to your advantage. At the last wave there with be a golden Gnome Bomber, try your best not let him blow up near you, otherwise you will be significantly damaged and be given a curse that disables your ability and has another purpose later on. To remove the curse, head to the Rome section of the map where there will be a Gnome statue, use it to remove the curse.
After the final enemy is defeated, it is best to clear the area because the boss will appear on the spot of the bait. Unlike the previous boss hunts, this one actually has 4 bosses, each representing 25% of the top health bar. You won't be able to damage the boss until you complete the objective. To complete the object you must shoot the cubes in each of the 4 out of 5 sections of the map to the color of the current Gnome boss (and for those that may be color blind, they are also in shapes. Circle/Sphere = Red, Triangle/Pyramid = Green, Square/Cube = Blue and Star = Yellow)
After you have completed the objective, you will be able to damage the current boss. A while after it will say the boss is shifting with another boss. A timer will show up to tell you when it will happen and you can continue to damage the current boss, BUT if you have the curse from the golden Gnome Bombers (they will continue to spawn with regular enemies while you fight the boss) you will be instantly downed once the timer is finished, so make sure most of the team is not cursed before it finishes even if it means you have to stop damaging the boss. Once the boss shifts, the boss will be a different color and you must do the objective again for that color.
Once you defeat one of the bosses, it will drop an artifact that you use to purge the boss. The most tankiest character should be purging the boss, while the other teammates should be defending them because it takes a bit a time. Once you have purged the boss, that brother will no longer show up in the rotation with the other brothers, repeat this process until you have beaten all 4 brothers and you have won.
I will update this solution if there are any changes to this mode.
If you give a negative, please comment with feedback, thank you.
