It's important to note that buying out machines and auto hacking them do count towards this. Most of the hacks I accumulated were done so this way.

In addition, I would advise to manually hack machines only in the early stages of the game, as they sometimes become rather time consuming later on.

Playing on Easy difficulty will get you this achievement faster, due to more money you find and auto hacking devices.

The best things to buy out are vending machines and health stations as they are usually cheap. Try to avoid expensive buyouts like safes.

If you are going to purely do manual hacking, I'd recommend the following Engineering tonics:

Speedy Hacker - Reduces flow speed. Location - Found in Painless Dental in the Medical Pavilion. Also available for purchase at Gatherer's Gardens from Arcadia onwards.

Focused Hacker - Reduces amount of overload tiles during hack. Location - In the entrance to Fontaine Fisheries in Neptune's Bounty, frozen in ice near the pneumo tube. Also available for purchase at Gatherer's Gardens from Arcadia onwards.

Hacking Expert - Reduces amount of "bad" tiles during hack. Location - On the desk inside the entrance to the Research Laboratories in Arcadia

CaptainMulpoI’m gonna assume that if you couldn’t get this achievement in your first play through(for whatever reason, then the achievement progression would carry over to your next play through?

Whenever you Press X to hack you will see a meter on screen going from Green to Red. This indicates the difficulty of the machine you are about to hack with Green being easy and Red being difficult. Look for where the pointer is on the meter.

If you only need a few hacks to get the achievement a quick method is find a hackable object, then make a save. Hack the item, then reload. Repeat this until the achievement pops. If you have an auto-hack tool then it becomes even quicker as the difficulty of the hack is negated.

Achievement progress updates so this tells you how near/far you are.

To save time and resources make sure that you hack anything in the green. Buying the hack still counts and saves a lot of time and health if you are playing on hard.

Make sure that you hack all health stations, vending machines, safes and turretts/bots particularly in the early levels.

Plasmids/ Tonics makes this much easier.
