Easiest way to get this achievement is to play as the Confederates in 1862. Put yourself as strong the Union as weak.

All other settings are up to you, but I turned storms off.

Make sure you take the harbor as well as the closest fort. The CPU is pretty terrible at battle so if you're good you can finish this game in two months.
