First off: there's no magic bullet to this one. You just plain have to get good at the game. Even as someone who has been playing this game since its original cartridge, it took me more than several tries to get this score. This will require patience, but with dedication and proper strategy, it can be done. Consider these tips less as a solution (since there isn't one) and more as distilled wisdom, hoping to help you skip past some measure of failure after utter failure. I assume you've read the manual—and if you haven't, you're handicapping yourself, so go do that first and then come back here, I'll wait:

- You should be trying to hit the Swirl in flight. Every. Single. Time.
- Play on Ultimate Yars. You might think it harder at first, but the ability to stockpile Zorlon Cannon shots and summon them only when you want them is far better for you in the long run. Also, the Swirl launching sooner and faster makes hitting it in flight easier.
- Make sure you have Destroyer Missile destruction OFF (it is by default, though, I think). You do NOT want ANY shot on the Swirl to be prevented, ever.
- If you're touching the Qotile, you earn TRONS to summon the Zorlon Cannon every frame. One touch typically puts you at so many that you don't have to worry about it for the rest of that life.
- The timing of the Swirl spawning is NOT random. The Qotile cycles colors at the same pace in the same order every time. It will always become a Swirl when it turns brown. At triple-Swirl score ranges, it changes on blue and light green as well; those three colors are equally spaced out in the cycle. Learn that cycle and that timing, and learn it well.
- The timing of the Swirl launching, on the other hand, is quite random. Be on your guard. Try to follow the unlaunched Swirl up and down, staying close to left side of the screen (you should have the Zorlon Cannon ready to go right before the Qotile becomes a Swirl) but not so close that you end up shooting yourself with it. As soon as it launches, fire the Cannon and get out of its way!
- The Destroyer Missile can't wrap between the top and bottom of the screen. You can. This is how you avoid it, especially when there's no Neutral Zone and it's gotten fast. Unless it's Swirl-shooting time, you're probably going to be at the top or bottom of the screen, hopping back across every few seconds.
- Don't lose track of the Destroyer Missile when waiting for the Swirl to launch! If the Swirl takes long enough to launch that the missile is closing in, fire the Zorlon Cannon before retreating to the top or bottom of the screen (whichever is closer) and wrapping around to dodge the missile. You're not going to have the chance to line up the shot again, and you may be surprised how often the Swirl will launch itself INTO the Cannon shot in flight!
- Once you get to where the Swirl can change angle in flight, you can try using that to your advantage by waiting with the Zorlon Cannon out at the top or bottom of the screen rather than in front of it (or by moving that way after the Swirl launches). The timing is tough to learn, but you can hit the Swirl consistently AFTER it turns straight up or down to hit you. When you fire, screen wrap, so that if you miss the Swirl, the Swirl misses you (it can only change angle once, and it can't screen wrap).
- Most importantly: when you shoot that Swirl, do NOT be sitting on that black vertical line it leaves behind during the screen wipe! If you trigger the Easter Egg, your game is OVER!
