This achievement requires that you complete all 25 Dream Battles with one Special Challenge per battle. The Special Challenges can be simple, like using magic on X number of enemies, or it can be much more challenging, like not taking damage for the duration of the battle.

My best advice would be to become very used to how the game focuses your attacks. The direction you point using cn_LS is where you'll usually move during an attack, meaning you'll snap to an enemy if one is close by. This can become dangerous if you start attacking a Tonberry or a red Skeleton without meaning to, so pay attention to what's closest to you, and where and how you want to attack.

When you're able to use magic without impacting a Special Challenge, I would also recommend using Ice magic to slow your enemies down. This can greatly help your combo stay alive, allowing for battles to progress faster as you take out your enemies quicker.

It's also worth noting that Special Challenges DO NOT lock you from using certain abilities. So, if the challenge requires that you don't use magic, you just have to not use your magic. If you accidentally use it in the heat of the moment, you will need to restart that challenge. So keep any restrictions in mind when planning out your attacks!

The following are the Special Challanges for each Dream Battle. For any challenge that requires not taking damage, or completing the battle within some time limit, I can only recommend becoming familiar with your available combos, and being very liberal with the use of your companions, saving your Armiger attack for the biggest and toughest enemies. In addition, for challenges that require you to activate a crystal to end the battle, keep defeating enemies for the crystal to "charge"; once you've killed enough enemies, the crystal can be used by holding cn_X when you're near it.

Challenge 1: Complete the battle without the use of magic.
Challenge 2: Activate Cid (cn_X+cn_Y, after building your combo up to 8 successive hits) in battle three or more times.
Challenge 3: Defeat three or more enemies using a single Armiger (use two of your companions attacks, then activate the Armiger with cn_LB when there are at least 3 enemies on screen, with health low enough to kill them. Most enemies will die from a single companion during the Armiger attack, save for the Iron Giant and the Behemoth, so play it safe and use all three of your companions BEFORE using the Armiger to add their attacks to your Armiger use.).
Challenge 4: Complete the battle without the use of companions.
Challenge 5: Use every magic type (Fire, cn_left, Lightning, cn_up, and Ice, cn_right, then hold cn_RB to charge whichever magic type you want to use) and every companion at least once during battle (cn_X+cn_Y, cn_Y+cn_B, and cn_X+cn_A).
Challenge 6: Survive the battle without taking any damage.
Challenge 7: Perform 10 Aerial Smashes (first cn_Xcn_Xcn_Y for Rising Fury against an enemy that can be knocked into the air, then cn_Xcn_Xcn_Y for Aerial Smash) during battle.
Challenge 8: Dispatch 10 or more enemies with fire (cn_left then charge with cn_RB).
Challenge 9: Perform 10 Aerial Bashes (first cn_Xcn_Xcn_Y for Rising Fury against an enemy that can be knocked into the air, then cn_Xcn_Xcn_B for Aerial Bash) during battle.
Challenge 10: Freeze 20 or more enemies with ice magic (cn_right then charge with cn_RB) over the course of the battle.
Challenge 11: Activate each companion's attack (cn_X+cn_Y, cn_Y+cn_B, and cn_X+cn_A) three times during battle.
Challenge 12: Extinguish 5 or more lamps during battle. (You're up against Tonberries, so I would suggest steering clear of them as best you can, while sending enemies flying at them using either the Shield Push (cn_Xcn_Xcn_B) or Aerial Bash (first cn_Xcn_Xcn_Y for Rising Fury against an enemy that can be knocked into the air, then cn_Xcn_Xcn_B for Aerial Bash). I personally had the most success using Aerial Bash. Thanks goes out to user King of Fool for confirming that Ice Magic can be used to extinguish the lamps as well!)
Challenge 13: Shield Stun (cn_Ycn_Ycn_B) 5 or more midgardsormrs during battle.
Challenge 14: Complete the battle without the use of companions or magic.
Challenge 15: Defeat three or more enemies using a single Armiger (cn_LB). (Be sure to use at least TWO of your companions, and make sure there are at least THREE enemies on screen before using the Armiger. To be safe, just use all three of your companions (cn_X+cn_Y, cn_Y+cn_B, and cn_X+cn_A) before the Armiger, to maximize your chance to kill during the Armiger attack.)
Challenge 16: Survive the battle without taking any damage.
Challenge 17: Dispatch 15 or more ronins with bomb detonations. (First attack the bombs with cn_X or cn_Y to power them up, then bash them towards the ronins with cn_B to damage them. The more powered up the bombs are, the more damage the ronins will take. To make this easier, knock the ronins' health down a bit before using the bombs.)
Challenge 18: Complete the battle without suffering any status effects. (This means taking out any Malboro, the green tentacle-like creature, you see before it has the chance to Impair or Confuse you with its breath attack. Whenever one appears, take it out quickly.)
Challenge 19: Dispatch 3 or more garulas. (I recommend trying to use your companions attacks quickly, so when the Garulas, mammoth-like creatures, appear, you can use your Armiger and take out as many as possible early on in the battle.)
Challenge 20: Complete the battle without the use of companions.
Challenge 21: Dispatch 6 or more garulas.
Challenge 22: Complete the battle without the use of magic.
Challenge 23: Complete the battle in less than 2 minutes.
Challenge 24: Complete the battle without the use of magic or companions. (From user Shadow Newfie: The trick is keeping the wasps/cactus alive and using their projectile attacks to kill the green dudes. If you use your shield it will send the attack back to them but if you use the sword the attack will hit another enemy. I did this in 4 minutes with the green guys dying super fast.)
Challenge 25: Stun 20 or more enemies with lightning (cn_up, then charge with cn_RB).

Upon completion of the 25th and final Special Challenge, the achievement will unlock.

Revid CargianThanks, evllmatt! Happy to see my solution/outline of the challenges is helping people.

Awesome, good to know the Ice magic does work! Thanks, King. I'll be sure to confirm that in the solution and give you due credit.

The SCHWARTZ 00imo the hardest one to me was the 24th Challenge. All those goddamn Tonberrys and Cactus enemies made it a nightmare. Had to be real patient with that one. Stick and move, dodge, stick and move, dodge.

BeijingyGreat solution +1!! I honestly found this ridiculously easy, only a few battles gave me any trouble. This achievement made #10 on my best achievements list by TA score, and it's by far the easiest one I've obtained. All in all, this is a great game to go for 1000 on and can be done in just around 5 hours.

Shadow NewfieTo add to your solution to # 24 : Challenge 24: Complete the battle without the use of magic or companions. As that is vague as all fuck and not near as easy as it seems.

The trick is keeping the wasps/cactus alive and using their projectile attacks to kill the green dudes. If you use your shield it will send the attack back to them but if you use the sword the attack will hit another enemy. I did this in 4 minutes with the green guys dying super fast.

GRAND NOBLEThis unlocked for me on the CHALLENGE SUCCESS screen. Didn't have to go back to the main DREAM BATTLES 'level select screen'

    FINALLY DONE!

AnxsighetyChallenge 24 was a first attempt for me, but these no damage challenges are annoying. The crystal is so inconsistent. 16 isn’t so bad. Getting hit after triggering the cutscene was a joke, but overall not much issue.

Funny how all gamers are different.

DJB HustlinChallenge 24 was the hardest but it did not take less than 20 minutes to do it. What I did was juggling the wasps in the air and send them to the catcus. Then used LB to finish them off.

#6 I did on my first go and #16 took like 5 quick tries
