Welcome to the guide for what is probably THE hardest achievement on this game. The goals here are colossal, and only the best of the best will have this gem in their case. Don’t worry, I’m here to guide you on this perilous journey and-

Never mind, I’m rambling. In order to access the Wizard Goals, you must complete every Standard Goal first. Here’s what you gotta do to catch this monster of a fish (bonus points for anyone who knows what table I’m referencing):

Win Vengeance Battle: This revolves around the shot right in the middle, The Vengeance. There are 3 different Vengeance rounds, the third of which being Vengeance Battle. You start a Vengeance round by hitting the Vengeance enough times (around 6-8 if I remember correctly). As soon as the last Vengeance hit is scored, the next Vengeance round starts. The first time, it’s Vengeance multiball. Second time, it’s Vengeance Scoring. The third time around, you start Vengeance Battle, which is what you need. Once Vengeance Battle begins, the game instructs you to keep hitting the Vengeance. Here’s how you win:

-Stage 1: Hit the Vengeance 5 times. Heads up, the ball comes SCREAMING back at you with most hits, so keep the right flipper raised when you hit it!

-Stage 2: The drop target protecting the Vengeance comes up. Knock it back down.

-Stage 3: Hit the exposed Vengeance shot one more time to destroy the Vengeance, score a crap ton of points, and complete the goal. You must hit the Vengeance within around 4-5 seconds of knocking down the drop target, or else you must complete stage 2 again.

Strategy: Completing the 3-bank of targets on the right just under the upper flipper awards you 3 proton torpedoes, up to a maximum of 8 (you can see how many you have via the yellow triangles in the middle pointing towards the Vengeance). When you have a torpedo, you can hit the A button to spot a free hit on the Vengeance towards starting the next Vengeance round (you can also use it to score Jackpots during Vengeance multiball, but save them, you’ll need ‘em). You can always complete the targets for more torpedoes , you get 3 per completion of the targets.

Score a Double Super Jackpot: This one will take the ultimate in controlling of multiple balls at once to accomplish. First, you must start Klingon multiball by locking three balls. Completing the three targets under the Warp ramp lights one lock at the Mission Start hole and Vengeance. After the third ball is locked, Klingon multiball begins. From here on out, you must always have at least 2 balls in play. If you go back down to 1 ball, the mode ends and you must lock three more balls to restart Klingon multiball and start from Phase 1 again.

During Klingon multiball, you must complete 3 phases:

Phase 1: Collect 12 Jackpots. Basically, you must score 2 Jackpots at each shot: the Mission Start hole, the spinner lane, the Warp ramp, the center ramp, the right ramp and the right loop. Once two Jackpots have been collected at a shot, the arrow turns off, so yes, you MUST hit every shot twice to advance.

Phase 2: Good news, you only have to hit one shot in this phase! One problem: the lit arrow is constantly moving from left to right, and rather quickly too. Line up your shot and hit it as the arrow is lighting up to score the Super Jackpot and proceed to the final phase.

Phase 3: This is it. The Double Super Jackpot is within your reach! All you have to do now is send a ball up the Warp ramp one more time to collect the Double Super and conquer the goal.

Strategy: The best way to do this is trap all balls on one flipper. If the left flipper is free, shoot a ball UNDER the upper flipper. The ball will go back to the shooter lane and be launched to the upper flipper, giving you a clear shot at the Warp ramp. If the right flipper is free, shoot the Spinner lane so the ball loops around and comes to the upper flipper, which also gives you a clear shot at the Warp ramp. Just relax and don’t tense up, otherwise you’ll risk losing accuracy (believe me, when you’re upset, your playing starts to suck).

Complete the Kobyashi Maru: So, Star Trek has 6 missions, each one split up into three parts, which means there are 18 total missions in the game. Completing all 6 missions once lights the Vengeance to begin Kobyashi Maru multiball. Hit the Vengeance to begin. This is a 2 ball feature (although if you collect a Black Hole award during this you can make it 3 ball). 5 shots light up: the Mission Start hole, the Spinner lane, the center ramp, the right ramp and the right loop. While keeping at least 2 balls in play, hit these 5 shots, twice each. As soon as you make the last shot, you complete the goal, Kobyashi Maru ends and normal play resumes, except now you have more balls to help you out! If you go back to 1 ball, restart the game and try again.

Earn a Tier 3 Gold Medal: All you have to do to get this is perform well in the third part of any mission. I suggest Space Jump, since I think that one is the easiest of the Tier 3 missions. So, play through Space Jump 1 and Space Jump 2, and start Space Jump 3. Depending on how well you perform in a mission, Star Trek awards medals, either bronze, silver or gold. Essentially, complete the mission quickly and with combos and you will get the gold medal. The goal pops as soon as the medal is awarded, it’s possible to get the medal before the final shot of the mission.

Start 5 Year Mission: This is the wizard mode and ultimate goal in Star Trek. Once you complete all three parts of all 6 missions, the Vengeance lights for 5 Year Mission. This is HARD. It will be time consuming as well. Take your time, and hit the flashing arrows as the game instructs to complete the missions. Try to bring missions into multiballs if you can. The only exceptions are the Tier 1 missions, where basically it’s just a “hit as many arrows as you can before time runs out” sort of thing. Simply hit the ball around and don’t hit the ball under the upper flipper, as this adds more time to the timer! Also note: as soon as you earn a gold medal, the timer instantly drops to 1 second and after that will light the final shot to end the mission. Which method you choose is completely up to you.

WARNING: There is a MAJOR bug in this game! Sometimes when you complete all 18 missions, the game glitches out where all of the missions are lit but neither the Mission Start hole nor the Away Team shot under the upper flipper will start missions, so you basically have nothing to do. Once you lose that ball, the game, programmed to offer you to select a mission at the start of every ball, tries to offer this, but since you have completed all of the missions, the display just says “Invalid” and doing anything else once the ball is served will make the game freeze and crash, essentially ruining your progress. I’m not sure what causes this, but I did notice that if I played and completed all of the missions in the order the game offers them in (instead of completing 2 tiers in 1 mission, then doing one in another, etc.), the bug did not occur. I strongly suggest you at the very least play through all Tier 1s before playing through the Tier 2s, then all Tier 3s. I’ve only done this twice, so I have no other info on this glitch.

If you need any more help, notice something incorrect or are confused about anything, send me a message and/or drop a comment below. I’ll help the best I can!
