How to unlock the Who's Your Daddy Now? achievement

Madhouse Difficulty is really a test of patience more then anything. I highly recommend NOT starting this on your first playthrough of the game but however your third. The reason why I am saying your third is because beating the game can unlock some nifty rewards that drastically make this easier.

Your first goal is to do the following:
    - Beat the game on normal.
    - Beat the game in under 4 hours.
    - Beat the game and collect all 20 Mr. Everywhere bobbleheads.

Doing these will unlock the following items:
    - Albert Pistol: A very deadly pistol that will kill mutants much faster then another pistol would.

    - Walking Shoes: These shoes make Ethan able to walk at the speed that he'd usually run at.

    - X-Ray Glasses: Due to items and ammo being much more scarce on Madhouse, these glasses will let you see any item around your area making it much easier to find the Coins, ammo & health.

    - Essence & Secrets of Defense: These items will be exceptional for this playthrough as having only one will half any damage when blocking but having both at the same time will negate ALL damage.

    - Circular Saw: Finally the most important item, the Circular Saw is a permanent chainsaw that will kill almost any enemy in a few hits, mainly with the L1 & R1 combo.

Use these special unlocks and you will literally breeze through this mode and as long as you have both defense books, you can negate all boss damage towards you.

Beating Madhouse unlocks Infinite Ammo so you can nail many other achievements also.

Complete the JP edition and I'm in this right now and I'll give you some advice, make your first game in normal by taking everything, speed run, and don't waste time looking for things, in madgouse. concentrates on coins, ammunition is scarce but that weapon that gives you the game is brutal, It works for all bosses, focus on the worst area for me, that damn boat and the final area where a kind of ladder with 2 giants comes out at the end, save as much ammo as you can, reload split if necessary to save health/ammunition, never return to the same area 2 times, as you can expect enemies and they will kill you with 2 strokes, buy steroids, defense and recharge with coins and keep me constantly, I will blow you 7 saved! And many times I suffered for not saving

If you can't defeat me in the first part always hit her in the back and crouch down when you make her punches, in the ladder area you can hit her 3 strokes before she gets up, walks in the doors and always shoots her in the head, there will be 2 lives and 27 rounds of ammunition, a lot of luck, the game is simply cruel with the guards and the damage , it's one of my favorite games.

Thanks for the good feedback so far! toast

    Some spoilers ahead.

    Extra Credits / Support - @Calex dEUS / @DecayingDead / @Maka91 / @PowerPyx (PS4)

This is a very long solution, where I cover what you need to have done before attempting this, what you should have equipped, best weapons, general tips and boss fight / tricky part tips. Dip in and out of it as you wish. This guide is more for you to glance back to as and when you reach a part you're stuck on. However, I recommend you read everything up to 4 before beginning.
If do not you read anything else, then please just read the prereq's, have lots of enhanced pistol ammo for the salt mines at the end, and lots of either enhanced ammo, shotgun bullets, flame rounds (preferably all 3.) for the endboss. I cannot stress how important this is. I got to it with 3 flame rounds, 4 shotgun bullets and no enhanced pistol and JUST about scathed it. Done a video for this.

Credit goes to PowerPyx guides for some influence for the combat tips ( I do add some elements or alternatives to them and explain them more in text form, as he used superb videos. Although great for some battles they are not a text book example as movement etc. varies so wildly) Powerpyx is a hell of a dude.
    http://www.powerpyx.com/

I'd also like to credit @Maka91. Although I didn't use him for Madhouse, he was very helpful for my first 2 playthroughs. Also a hell of a dude, so much so I feel it essential to support his Patreon. Support his youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/Maka91Productions

I: PREREQUISITES BEFORE ATTEMPTING MADHOUSE (ALL NEEDED FOR OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS ANYWAY

1: Complete the game on Normal, and collect all Mr. Everywhere dolls (plus files / coins if you want those achievements). This will earn you:

    - Essence of Defence
    - Secrets of Defence
    - Albert 01R pistol (endboss pistol)

Although I did 2 easy playthroughs before Madhouse, and is entirely possible to do Madhouse this way, I missed out on Secrets of Defence because I did not do a standalone Normal run which made things hard for me at points.

The Secrets of Defence and Essence of Defence are unlock able bits of paper you keep in your inventory. 1 takes off half of your damage when blocking, and the other makes you invulnerable to damage when blocking (only if BOTH are equipped in inventory). I recommend you do this and not step 2 on normal because step 2 is a speed run, and this will obviously be more difficult on Normal.

2: Complete the game on Easy, and do so in Under 4 hours. This will earn you:

    - Walking Shoes
    - X-Ray Glasses
    - Circular Saw

Walking shoes does little but make you walk faster; a convenience but not that important. However, the x-ray glasses and particular the circular saw are vital; the saw is the most important thing in the Madhouse run. The glasses will point out every item, coin etc. on madhouse which is very handy because ammo is scarce and coins will allow you to buy various things (will explain in main walkthrough.

The saw is essential. You will need it for some bosses, and does not comsume any ammo, so is good for certain enemy types as well.

To conclude, you should only attempt madhouse when you have all 6 of the items above, which will be available after running through the game once on normal, once on easy, smashing all Mr. Everywhere's during one of the playthroughs, and speeding running the other. DO NOT attempt Madhouse until you've done all of this. (why it was a preorder bonus I do not know, I can't imagine this mode without the pistol and saw....)

    II: MADHOUSE

Madhouse can be a b***h, but was easily my favourite play through. It felt incredibly rewarding and except for one type of enemy (fat moltens) I found everything pretty fair. This mode will make all enemies tougher, make enemies spawn in different locations to easy/normal, add another 15 antique coins and change all their locations, make ammo scarcer and (hardest of all) require you to save manually with cassette tapes provided at each recorder.

The following will not be a step by step, but rather a few helpful hints to bear in mind before and during your attempt.

    1: Collect all Coins
    - Collect all 33 coins. Powerpyx AND Maka have great guides for this, but I recommend Maka's personally. I used PowerPyx's only because I had already started by the time Maka's guide came out, and it is a great guide, but Maka's is even better in my opinion as his has a clear commentary.

You should do this because a) it is mandatory for 100% achievements and b) will allow you to buy the gold coin (enhanced attack) silver coin (enhanced defense) and some steroids (permanent higher max health), possibly other upgrades as well..

    2: Saving
    - Autosaves are rare, and I really recommend you are careful with your saves, and keep 2/3 save slots open at all times (for example alternate between #1, 2, 3, then back to 1,2, 3 etc.) This way you can revert back if you REALLY fuck up. Don't be too adventurous but also be aware that if you save to early you will need to do more between tapes if you are short on them. A good indicator for me is try not to ever have less than 2 tapes, or 1 at the worst (the wrecked ship is an exception as they are very scarce.)

    3: Combat
    - Although enemies are tougher, they are just as stupid. Closing doors in their face still works, etc. With scarce ammo, try to evade them or run past and get to a door! If not possible, a shotgun or two to the crown (very top of the head) normally eliminates them!

    - The only weapons I used were the Albert pistol, the saw, the shotgun, the burner and the grenade launcher. I never got stuck on one part for more than 30 minutes, and by now, you should know where to acquire the last 3, and the first 2 are unlocks as mentioned above.

    - The saw is an absolute godsend. Some of the bosses will die literally in seconds with proper usage. Also, jumping 4 legged molten die almost instantly if you crouch and press LT+RT, as they will either jump into it or turn into goo quickly. It doesn't work to well against bigger molten, and is useless against fatties. If you are stuck, though, hitting them with one press of RT and legging it can help. Essential weapons.

    - Keep shotguns for tricky situations and bosses, otherwise try and stick to your pistol and your saw . The pistol has the easiest ammo to make, and although other ammo is scarce with the X ray glasses you will find heaps of it. I never had less than 30/40 by the time i ventured outside.

    - Make enhanced ammo and save it for the end! Going into the salt mines, you will really want some enhanced ammo. There are some fatties at the end that are ridiculous without them, but fall to 5/6 bullets. Also, the endless goes down quicker with them. I recommend you don't do what I do, and end up with very little enhanced bullets.

4: Tough bits / Boss battles

I do use some of the techniques listed by PowerPyx, however I don't think this is a carbon copy; I explain it in text further as a video guide for half the battles is nigh on impossible as movement isn't always scripted (some, it is). Still, credit goes to PowerPyx http://www.powerpyx.com/resident-evil-7-trophy-guide-roadmap...

    - Mia Fight #2 - Attic: The one I am referring to is when you are in the attic, after you have , and she comes at you with a chainsaw. Pick up the 4 ammo packs (1 by the gun, 2 in the room with the ladder, 1 in the room adjacent to the ladder. Aim for headshots and STAY calm.

Although in most fights you can block and be invincible, you will not have access to an item box yet and thus will not have equipped these items yet (thanks Decaying Dead in the comments for the reminder) . However, blocking still does a decent enough job for this fight if all else fails and she's about to slash you. Lead her through doors, which she will chop down, and place some headshots. There are 2 doors and a wall she can cut through. Then block, grab a headshot, repeat when you've run out of doors. Basically, headshot headshot headshot. If you miss more than 4 or 5, restart, you will run out of ammo. One of my least favourite battles.

    - Jack Fight #1 - Garage: Pretty easy, speed is key here. [i(again, thanks to Decaying Dead for the support in the comments). Grab the lock pick to the north west when beginning, turn around and quickly open the box with the key and get in the car FAST. Shoot him for time if you have too (won't do any damage). As soon as you're in the car, just keep running him over, let the cinematic play, and get some headshots in when

    - Basement Molten & Jack Fight #2 - Morgue / Basement Area: The boss is very easy, although getting here is less so.

You will have to go through a few molten and they spawn differently to other difficulties! Key here is for 4 legged use the saw. For molten run away if you can. You won't enounter any in the incinertor room this time, but as soon as you get the key at least 2 will spawn outside. Headshots with the Albert and Saw for these two, or if you are quick, run. By this point, you should have the 2 blocking perks in your inventory if you really get stuck.

For the final area which requires the key to unlock the final door, put your cursor over the key in your inventory before proceeding, then lead the molten to the door you used to enter the room with the locked door, then make a run for that locked door (hope that makes sense, lots of doors). Hit Y and then A (putting the cursor over it before will leave it there for next time you press inventory) and open the door, pushing forward. You might get hit here, but use a medkit or 2 herbs; you won't need any for the next boss as he is piss easy.

For the boss equip your saw, crouch and just spam the saw. He will get damaged in seconds in each time. you might have to block once or twice, but I didn't have to at all. Whole fight literally take 60 seconds.

-Old House & Marguerite #1 - Hole by Crow Door
This part of the game isn't too bad; closing doors and genuinly being stealthy works (be advised, though, that her alertness is significantly higher. Proceed through theold house, get the crank and crow key, and by the time you come to open the crow door, alas, Marguerite is mean and throws you through the floor. This battle is, in my opinion, also pretty easy. Have a shotgun or a strong pistol like the Albert (enhanced not neccesary but advised) and headshot her as SOON as possible after standing up. Then do it again when she stands up, and a third time when she reappears. She calls you "cher" close to the end, if I remember correctly. When she is getting up, toggle crouch up and down because some bugs are already in the hole you're thrown into, however, they will barely touch you by toggling crouch. The quicker you are, the less bugs will swarm you, and then it will not be easy anymore.

    - Marguerite #2 - Greenhouse
Strongly, strongly recommend you save before this section because I doubt you'll do it first time. Took me 5 attempts, and is one of the trickiest fights in my opinion (as well as the most grim) but is fun. Supplies are plentiful here, and I suggest you stock up (things like chems, herbs, shotgun ammo) BEFORE you proceed up the stairs. This triggers the fight. Also, Bear keep a minimum of 2 medkits on you. A step by step here is kind of difficult as her movement seem to change a lot. Some tips, though, are as follows.

    - When you proceed up the stairs, do so slowly so when she
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
, she does not grab you. Use the saw on her here, and you'll get 1/5 of the damage required in very easily.
    - For the rest of the fight, slowly walk around the greenhouse and try and keep to confined areas. She will surprise you, so be alert, but it will be easier to attack in non open areas as she will climb the walls either way.
    - Circular saw is what you will be using 90% of the time. When she is on your level, crawling, the saw does good damage. Aim it at her weak spot (i do not need to detail where that is) and you'll do it even quicker.
    - When you can't see her, be alert and ready to block armed with a shotgun. If you see her at a distance on a wall bring her down with a shotgun and then use the saw. Rinse and repeat. On lower difficulties, I took her down purely with the flame burner but it was crap and no use on madhouse, unless I'm doing it wrong. Keep your burner, though, as there are a number of lockers with supplies in.
    - If you hear her say "gotcha" etc. she is about to pounce and chances are she is behind you (not always, but most often). This is the only real part of the fight where you are at risk of dying; when she is out of view and attacks. Learn the down on left analog stick and B trick (instant 180 turn) and hold block (LB) whenever you hear this. It doesn't work every time, but I'd say it works 75% of the time. Once blocked, spam the saw.
    - She'll die anywhere between 4-8 minutes depending on how efficient you are.

    - Testing Area - Barn Fight

Another difficult one. Again, save before this. After
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
two fatties (not one like in other difficulties) will come at you down a lift. Make sure you take one out as quickly as possible! Can't stress this enough. Flame rounds, lots of shotgun and enhanced ammo works tricks here. Enhanced headshots bring them down in about 5-8 bullets. However, I didn't want to waste them as enhanced ammo is scarce to find or harder to make, so I stuck to the shotgun and normal Albert bullets. Neuro bullets for the grenade launcher work wonders here too, especially when you are trying to take the first out quickly. I did this first try, but I got very lucky in this fight, if I was to do it again it would take me 3 tries minimum.

Boathouse - Jack Fight #3 - Mutant Jack

Once you crank the bridge, get your saw out and take care of the 4 legged molten behind you. You will die if you sprint past him. After him, though, just leg it to the boathouse as it is a save zone. Use shotgun bullets to distract / stagger molten, aiming for instakill crown headshots if possible

The mutant boss fight is tricky, but not as bad as others, just more frustrating if you fail as it takes a good 7-10 minutes unless you're a pro and I kept doing the first phase very easily and dying at the end. First phase; he will go between the top and bottom level, with loads of exposed orange weak spots. Some tips for phase 1:

    - Never go on the top level! As soon as you can, drop down and stay there. He will knock you off if you go above. You should have plenty of supplies from the boathouse area previous to this.
    - Stay to his side and back. He will seldom attack you from here.
    - Take out orange weak spots, whenever possible, with your saw when on the lower level. RT or LT/RT, whichever seems to make the most sense at that time.
    - When he is on the upper level, stay on the lower level and use pistol ammo to take out orange spots. Always run to the tail and shoot from there, as he will do a smash attack if you are in front. If you can see his head, he can attack. Run to the back!
    - I recommend sparingly use the shotgun for obvious take out hits, but I would not recommend using all of your shotgun or grenade launcher ammo in phase 1. Better to be slow and conserve ammo with the saw / plenty of pistol pickups than waste all your ammo.
    - If he raised his arm/hand, he will attack. At this point, hold LB and wait for the hit. You won't get damage if you have both defense perks equipped.

After this he'll get pissed and throw you in the water. He'll then shower you with a flurry of attacks. For phase 2, I simply suggest Block, Shotgun to the eye. Block, shotgun to the eye. If you have run out of shotgun ammo use the pistol / another good weapon. It'll take longer, but if you have the 2 defense perks you shouldn't receive damage (I only had one so this took skill for me.) Once he's down, breathe, you've more or less done it . Just remember to put the serum in and don't freeze up haha.

NOTE: AFTER THIS FIGHT I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU CHOOSE TO
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
. YOU WILL SKIP A FIGHT WITH THIS CHOICE!

    Wrecked Ship - Mandatory Tape

This part of the game is the only time where you will be required to complete the tape. There is an autosave once you reach S2, but otherwise it has to be done in 1 run, which is why it is kind of difficult. Its simple up to the autosave.

After that, use your machine gun to take an enemy down and use the saw to finish them off. These molten are admittedly not easy, and I recommend scouting the lower level for supplies for medkits whenever physically possible. After the first 2 enemies, pick up the remote bombs in the box the other end of the long corridor (before the double doors) and take out the molten on the stairs in the same fashion as before. Proceed to pick up the corrosives and do the story sequence. After the watch call, you will have to get back to the elevator. This bit is the hardest, with 4/5 molten. I'd recommend taking them all out, use the machine / saw combo and remote bombs to distract them and run away. If you really, really struggle, run away and close doors to buy time. In the main corridor is a door with a corrosive lock, which you can now get through. Grab these supplies, and use the remote bombs / saw / gun on the two enemies by the elevator. Follow eveline up to level 3.

It is pretty easy from here but there is one enemy lurking around by where there is an optional corrosive lock (room down the hall to the left when you exit the elevator). Get to the wooden doors, get through the hatch, and leg it. You should be okay from here.

After the videotape you should be cool, but credit to @Calex dEUS for pointing out the following. after you finish the Video Tape section you pry open the lift on the 3rd floor then you have to go to the 4th to get the jack to open the hatch , when you drop into the lift you can then jump up to the second floor or down to the 1st one for the fuse. On the 2nd floor a fattie spawns around both the left and right corners. I ran straight in to one as I was going to the save room and chest so turned around and right into another one (he's posted about it further in the comments)

For the rest of the ship, try and run away from enemies whenever possible. For the 2 parts to restart the elevator, I disconnected the 2 power/generator/thing cords first and grabbed the power cable by running past the fattie / molten, blocking and using the shotgun to distract. I then did the fuse on Level 1 second. You should have a couple of cassette tapes, should you need to save.

Salt Mines & Final 2 fatties
I hope you have some enhanced pistol and shotgun ammo. I mentioned this in the pre-req's. Up until the point where you things are pretty simple of people who, by this point, should know this area from previous playthroughs and are used to running away like cowards (I am one of these cowards, don't worry.) After this, you have an insane area ahead. I personally had 4 tapes at this point, but 2 is fine as an absolute minimum. Save after
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
and equip your shotgun. Proceed forward, to the left and through a pool; you'l see a vision of Eveline. On lower difficulties, you can run past most of these enemies but I actually recommend taking them out. It really isn't that hard with shotgun ammo.

Go up the salt mines, aiming for the crown of enemies. There is shotgun ammo and herbs dotted around here, should you need it. Some will go down in 1 perfect crown hit, others 2-3. After the 2nd "tunnel" is a 4 legged, so get the saw out and take him out as per normal. Then return to the shotgun and take out the 3 molten after him. With all these enemies dead, there should only be a fattie guarding the stairs. DONT try and take him out. Its a bit long winded, but I recommend going BACK to the last save point and saving again. Enemies do NOT respawn, so if you die at the next bit you would start at the same point as before but without having to take out all the molten 319838293 times. There is a cassette tape in a mesh squared off area close to the fattie by the stairs, if you are low on tapes. Save and run back

ALL the way to the top until you come by a fattie by the stairs, which is where we stopped before saving. DO NOT ATTACK HIM. Carefully run up to him, all the way up to him, and keep spam clicking the right analog stick in. Crouch, stand, crouch, stand, crouch, stand etc. whilst moving forward. He never got a hit on me in 4 times of doing this.

Once you've dropped down, this bit is very difficult if you don't have enhanced gun ammo. Carefully move forward until you see the two fatties in the next area, and start plowing headshots into one of them. 6 or so headshots will take out one of the fatties (remember, enhanced Albert pistol ammo.) I had 3-4 bullets left, so I put headshots into the other and use neurotoxin grenade launcher bullets to stun him and shotgun bullets to the head to take him out. This should see the other down pretty quick. Running past them is not an option; they are insanely quick and will vomit bile to the point where you can't even heal because you don't have time between spew attacks. Additionally, if you do manage to somehow stun them long enough to climb the ladder there are 3 traps on them in madhouse which are difficult to spot even when the fatties are dead.

When they are dead, you have all the time in the world to shoot off the 3 traps. Save up ahead, we're almost done. Also scout the boxes as there are 3 flame rounds, which are very helpful for the endboss.

I love RE7 but I found this to be the most "unfair" part of the game and did not enjoy it all.

    Endboss

Step 1: Simple, and the same as other difficulties. Block her shockwaves, and move towards her. As soon as she lifts her arms, block.
Step 2: You'll get an autosave here, thankfully. Step 2 is the trickiest bit. Once
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
use 4 shotgun bullets on her face and then use Albert standard bullets (or enhanced, but only if you have a bit of it) into her face. Without the 4 shotgun bullets this wouldnt be enough, but if you just keep tapping RT you will keep shooting and autoreloading. Move all the way back and move left to right whilst doing this, as it will help trigger the tenticles grabbing you.
Step 3: Very end of the game. If you have a couple of flame round and enhanced bullets, this is a breeze. If not, as long as you have some shotgun bullets or flame ammo or somethig powerful you should be okay. The pistol alone will NOT be enough. However, all i needed was albert pistol and 2 flame rounds. The more, the easier. When you start off phase three outside, just keep pressing RT with the Albert pistol and unload into her face as much as possible. ONce you're hanging in the air and closer to her face, get the big guns out. Shotgun, enhanced pistol, flame rounds (this was very good for me) and it should drop you. At this point, the hard bit is over. Pick up the gun and unload the bullets into her face. I was sloppy but still got it with 2 bullets to spare.

Noble RoyaleGreat guide, better than the one above you. Also the author of that guide has not even unlocked the achievement which i always find odd. I wanted to add to your guide that the Eve attic boss battle i just used the saw in her fat face and that phase was over in seconds, but E vee dub beat me to it. I used other guides for files, bobbleheads and madhouse coins but always came back to this guide for boss tips. Margerette green house fight i used block and saw and didnt get touched, i was dreading it aswel. My madhouse run was my 4th paythrough so i had xray, walking shoes, both books and saw. I got the scorpion key first, then offense coin. The further i got in the easier the game seemed to get tbh. Anyway great guide and good luck to anybody going for this, it is very do-able.

RVMI agree with AP 8T8 above. The magnum is invaluable at the end. I had already used most of the ammo previously at the elevator part, but I still had four bullets left at the end that I saved, and it was clutch. Then I was able to use a few enhanced ammo shots to kill the last fatty: https://streamable.com/h9jfv

I unsuccessfully tried this part five times prior using a shotgun and enhanced pistol and got overwhelmed way too quickly. Definitely get the magnum and save a few rounds for the end if you can.

For those who would like a complete guide for this and all other achievements in this game in 2 playthroughs, I have created a video walkthrough. I'll embed the first video of the Madhouse playthrough here, but be aware that there is a full playthrough before that showing you how to obtain all of the items we will use in the Madhouse run:

    Find the full playlist here:

    https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlIgzIec_cDQGqe0DRJNizwGl...

This is a complete guide to getting all of the Achievements/Trophies in the base game of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. In the first playthrough, we will be doing a speed run (JUST GET ME OUTTA HERE Achievement/Trophy), completing the game without opening the Item Box more than 3 times (RESOURCE MANAGER Achievement/Trophy), completing the game using only 3 First Aid Meds or less (WALK IT OFF Achievement/Trophy), and getting all of the collectibles (MR. NOWHERE, BE KIND PLEASE REWIND, THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS, and PELICANS IN YOUR POCKET Achievements/Trophies). I am also going to show you how to get ALL of the miscellaneous Achievements/Trophies during the first playthrough, including creating all of the items that contain Chem Fluid and Strong Chem Fluid (1ST PLACE AT THE SCIENCE FAIR) as we go. We will get Ending 2 (JUST A MEMORY NOW) during our first playthrough.

The second playthrough (starts in Part 7 of this walkthrough) will be on Madhouse Difficulty and will show you how to play through on Madhouse Difficulty (WHO'S YOUR DADDY NOW? Achievement/Trophy), obtain all of the Antique Coins on Madhouse Difficulty (MAD PELICANS Achievement/Trophy), and get Ending 1 (END OF THE NIGHT Achievement/Trophy).
